Vitamix or Blendtec Blender?

If you are a baker I find the blendtec to be a better wheat grinder than the vitamix

If you want to grind wheat with Vitamix you need the dry container. Two different blades. The wet container the blade draws the contents down. The wet blade moves the contents to the top. You can grind with the wet but not as good.

We have a vitamix blender.. We bought it from Costco.. I really think it's okay, but we really don't use it that often.. And it does "collect dust" it's bulky, and meh..

It does an ok job- makes a hell of a margarita! :beach: I wouldn't recommend doing the soup recipes in the book :/ eckkk! --- We tried some tortilla soup heaven at Costco the Vitamix demo guy said the recipe is in the book.. We bought the blender.... What he didn't tell us is he didn't use that specific recipe and the one we followed to the T from the book was AwFuL!!!

If you need a blender (and will use it) then by all means but if it's just a once in a while thing, pass.
Sounds like you need a juicer more anyway..

Blender=ice: margaritas!
Juicer= vegetables: veggie juice that's healthy cleanse type

Starbucks switched from Blendtec to Vitamix which is a great endorsement.

Vitamix all the way for us ;) I hemmed and hawed over the two for quite some time, but went with the Vitamix and have never looked back, lol.

I have both the wet and dry containers and love them both. The dry container blends great flour....everything from wheat to quinoa flour.

I use my Vitamix at least two or three times each day...for smoothies, soups, sauces, etc. We cook almost everything from scratch, so it comes in handy. I also have three young boys and a very picky husband....so lots of stuff gets pureed....lol!

I've had friends with a Ninja that then bought a Vitamix and they have said there is simply no comparison...the Ninja is good, but it's not a Vitamix. I don't personally know anyone that has purchased a Blendtec.

Can't comment on the BlendTec. We have a VitaMix...I wanted one for (literally) years and finally bit the bullet. Love it so far! So much better than our old Cuisinart, super easy to clean. I mostly use it for smoothies but I've also made soup and hummus using the VitaMix. Our has the variable speed control button and I really like that feature.

Also...we got ours at Bed Bath & Beyond. Even though the 20% coupon I had specifically said that they wouldn't accept it for a VitaMix in the fine print, I asked anyone (based on other reviews I'd read online) and my store took it. We also have an outlet near us and could have gotten a refurbished model.

Any one you'll be happy with. They're top of the line for blenders, but I heard that Vitamix 'stole' some of Blendtec's designs..

Here are the best side by side comparisons I've seen on youtube between the Vitamix and Blendtec: youtube.com/watch?v=_O1y18opSnI

They're both pricey, so if you wanted a blender that's more portable and less of an investment, then a Nutribullet might be your best choice.

no ninja love here?:confused3 well, I love mine! ( a lot of my friends have the vitamix, nice, but not worth the extra $$$ IMHO)

Love my Ninja! Use the single serve all the time - makes great quick smoothies with 'very' little cleanup!! Haven't had 'any' problems with it and it sits on our counter all the time ready to go>>>> :)

Okay so I'm a nutter with a VERY indulgent and patient husband (lol) I bough the 5200 Vitamix and Blendtec along with the Costco show 6300 and 750? (Forget the number but it was the pro one) Vitamixes too. One day. All 4. Looked insane. Should have filmed it!

I'd been agonizing, returned other brands (Bosch, nutribullet and ninja junk, etc) and I think my DH just wanted the saga over lol

First all the Vitamixes blew the Blendtec away within minutes. Bigtime. And I wanted to like it best, be a use it was pretty, but it was way too weak for my needs. It got stuck on frozen fruit and left a chunky mess. I tend to use frozen fruit or frozen juice in smoothies instead of ice cubes and the 5200 cleared the chunky mess the Blendtec left immediately. That was the first to go back in the box although their book had a few good and unique recipes I snapped.

Next was the pro. It was loud and for the sound felt underpowered by comparison. It left finer chunks but still chunks with much tamping down.

The 5200 was left although I hate how it looks -- but as a former bartender in NYC and other places for years I know it well. It's a workhorse. It powers through whatever you need.

The 6300 was tied performance-wise, but add in the features and we went with the 6300. We love it! I make soups often and frozen treats as well as sauces and smoothies on the fly. HTH!

Im in the market for a new blender and I've been hearing the raves of the Vitamix blender. Right now it's on sale at Costco so it's a $50 difference more vs the Blendtec blender. The reviews are both 4-5 stars, but reading the reviews it seems 50/50. Does anyone have either one or experienced use of both of them? Wondering which one I should go with! Most of our use will be smoothies, milkshakes and blending fruits/veggies up for soups etc..

I used to use an Oster cheapo blender, and once a year my husband would break the motor because he was trying to grind up ice or something that got stuck. Then my inlaws got me a vitamix for my birthday this year, and it's like a night and day difference. Not a necessity in life, that's for sure, but man, that thing gets the job DONE! I'm going to be using it today to grind oats for oat flour, grind almonds for almond milk, grind down gingersnaps for my pumpkin pie crust and mix up my pie filling... it's wonderful. They got it for me from Costco in June. So the Vitamix gets my vote!

We bought a BlendTec 3 or 4 years ago at Costco. We had been doing a lot of research, watching a lot of youtube comparisons etc. It didn't seem like there was a clear winner, it really seemed to come down to personal preference. For me, I was leaning towards the BlendTec because it fits under my counter and I liked the square jar better. Then there was a VitaMix lady at Costco- she was a total snot and a royal witch. I didn't like the face she put on the product, so it sealed the deal for the BlendTec. My neighbor has a Vitamix, we've swapped machines before to test drive the other and both of us prefer the one we bought. LOL Nothing wrong with either, just preferences. :-)

I totally agree -- both are workhorses and both will get the job done. I love my Vitamix 300. :) We have friends who bought a Blendtec and other friends who bought a Vitamix. lol

I agree that it's mostly a matter of personal preference.
Technically, the Blendtec has a bit more horsepower and is $20-$50 cheaper, but in the realm of high power blenders neither difference is very significant.

The most significant difference in my mind is style. Vitamix's have a more classic design with analog switches and dials. Blendtec's are more high tech with touch panel displays, etc. Personally, I prefer Vitamix because they're simpler. However, I know a few people who absolutely love their Blendtecs.

Another thing to keep in mind is that both Vitamix and Blendtec sell refurbished models and both have an online affiliate program that will get you free shipping and sometimes other deals if you use a "promotion code" from someone like rawblends.com/vitamix-blender or boozysmoothies.com/blendtec-promo-code/.

I use the Vitamix often. I just wish there was an individual serving size type cup/attachment (to go) for 1 serving for smoothies. I've seen it for other blenders (the Ninja?). That's the only thing that's a bit of a drawback for me. I have a habit of making too much in the big container.

We love our Ninja! It's always worked great and when it broke, they replaced the motor for free for us!

Love the Vitamix. I bought it 2 1/2 years ago at Costco. I use it several times a month. I make peanut butter and almond butter. Green smoothies. A delicious cheddar broccoli soup from their cookbook. This Christmas I tried a new rum ball recipe that called for 2 cups of crushed vanilla wafers. No need to put the wafers in a zip lock and crush with a rolling pin. Just a couple of pulses in the vitamix and the job was done. Making the soup tomorrow.
So easy to clean too. A friend had the ninja and I seem to remember lots of parts to clean. Maybe they have improved that.

I got DH a Vitamix for Christmas. He had been eyeing them for a LONG time. I managed to find a great deal on a refurbished 5200 on Target.com of all places!! It was 284 shipped! He has used it about every day since he opened it. Has made soup, ice cream, smoothies. It even prompted him to discover pinterest for recipes. LOL The only think I a not crazy about is how tall it is. We have the 64 oz container, and it only fits under our cabinets with the lid off. It replaces a ninja we have that never worked that great. Good luck in your decision. I never even looked into the blendtec as DH was dead set on a Vitamix.
