Vitamix blender?

Ice has ruined every single blender I've ever owned. I love to make fresh fruit smoothies with ice, orange juice, frozen yogurt and fruit. I would love to buy a Vitamix. I recently saw one at Costco. I believe it was *only* in the $200's.

QVC sometimes has them as their Deal of The Day.

It's not a blender, it's a Vitamix. (Yes, I drank the kook-aid.) I received one for Christmas and I use it several times a week. You can make hot soup and sauces with cold ingredients. The texture of smoothies is indescribable. You can grind wheat for bread. Make butter from milk or nuts. Expensive? Yes. But totally worth it in my opinion.

There is a 7 year guarantee with it (I believe that's right...I can't imagine ever having to actually use it). In the amount of time that you will be using the vitamix, you probably would go through several cheap blenders.

My current favorite thing to make in it is cashew nacho "cheese".

Paid about $400 for my BlendTec a few years ago, and don't regret it a bit. It's an investment and I agree with a pp, you can't compare other blenders to a VitaMix or BlendTec. They're in a class by themselves. My BT has the same horsepower that my husbands commercial table saw has...haven't found anything yet that it won't blend. Also, you won't find a 7 year warranty on an average dept store blender. We use ours every day, often multiple times a day. We make daily green smoothies, I make almond milk, dairy free ice creams and treats, salad dressings, fresh salsa, sauces for pasta, and a jillion other things.

I would love to know how you make almond milk. What do you add besides the almonds and how long can you store it? Thanks!

I bought my Vitamix 2 years ago when I needed a new blender and realized my mom had her Vitamix for over 30 years!!! That was good enough for me. My mom still uses hers weekly.

I have a Blendtec (had vitamix but returned and got the blendtec instead since it seems to work better, looks nicer, shorter and fits under the cabinet, and the shape of the jar makes it soooo easy to get every last bit out). I use it all the time. Now I wouldn't spend that much on a blender if you don't already use it a cheap blender often. We went through 3 cheap blenders in. 5 years so finally went for a good one and haven't regretted it. We use it all the time so we knew it was a wise purchase. We do lots of smoothies, nut butters, salad dressings, and grind fresh wheat and oat flours for baking and bread making, among many other things. Now my brother has a cheap blender that he got years ago that's still in the box. Most other people I know don't even own a blender so I would start with a cheap one and go from there if you don't currently use one often. I wouldn't right off the bat go for a $400 one. And there is no comparison between a blendtec and a cheap walmart blender.

yes, my favorite Vitamix drink is the whole fruit margaritas! One orange, one lemon, one lime (take peel off), tequila, triple sec, water, ice - heaven in a glass!

I HATE that sweet & sour mix that most places use for margaritas. Our margaritas at home are better than any I've ever had.

Oh, we also use our Vitamix for healthy smoothes (read: detox). Our kids love banana, frozen strawberries, milk and peanut butter (just a little for protein). Mangos (frozen) and pineapple is great too!

We have made soups in it. It's amazing how great they are, and hot too!

I was hesitant to spend that much on a "blender" but it really is wonderful:banana:

Have never made soups with mine...would love some recipe's

We just got ours for Christmas and I love it!

My husband makes a green smoothie everyday before work, I make salsa and black bean hummus at least twice a week. I also love how easy to clean it is.

I have yet to make a great margarita, can you give me your exact recipe.
I'm assuming you meant to peel all the fruit and not just lime, is that right?
Thanks

You can NEVER use the rind of any citrus fruit. Just way too bitter ;) That margarita does sound amazing!!!!

The smoothie I'll have to ask my husband that's his recipe but here is the Black bean hummus:
1 clove garlic
2Tbs fresh lemon juice
1 Tbs tahini
1tsp ground cumin
1/4tsp salt
1(15oz) can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 small jalapeno
dash of crushed red pepper

Just blend it all in the vitamix

i would go w the new 750 series with the presets. it is lower and quieter than then the other models. it will cost you over 500 but it is worth it! i love mine!

I found the recipe in my Vita Mix book, I can't wait to try. I've yet to find a good Margarita recipe.

I went through 3 different $50-100 blenders before I got my Vitamix. The vitamix does everything very well and comes with a very long warranty. I could never get my previous blenders to crush ice well. The Vitamix makes the ice into a snow texture.
