I used to take a multi vitamin daily then I slacked off. I was watching the Today Show the other day and they recommended a multi vitamin and a Vitamin E suupplement daily. Do you take vitamins? If so, what kind?

I take a daily multi one (One A Day weight smart) I take Green Tea extract, calcium plus D and glucosamine (spelling?) for my really bad knee joints!

absolutely! and I pass them out to everyone in my family at dinnertime. vitamins can be hard on the tummy if taken on an empty one

I take a multi-vitamin (whatever kind) and a calcium supplement. this winter we took Vitamin C as well, but i won't do that all summer long.

I take One-a-Day Women's Formula (actually, the Walmart knock-off "One Daily") every morning with breakfast. It took me a while to get into the habit, but I've finally made it part of my routine, at least on the weekdays - I don't always remember on the weekends. :p

I was surprised to discover that One-a-Day doesn't include any potassium. Is that normal for a women's vitamin?

I am a vitamin junkie. I am anemic with a family history of heart disease and cancer. I take a prescribed iron pill 3x daily. I take a multivitamin that does have potassium, calcium plus D, Vitamin C, B complex, Fish oil, Fibercon, and baby asprin. IThe last 3 are for my heart. The C is for antioxidant.

For those of you who take more than one vitamin a day, do you take them all at once or do you spread them out throughout the day?

Someone at Weight Watchers mentioned that the prenatal vitamins are really good. At my annual visit I asked the doctor if it was ok to take them since I wasn't pregnant or trying to get pregnant (in fact, I had her refill my birth control) and she said yeah that they were really good and wrote me a prescription.

You're supposed to take these on an empty stomach.

I too take One A Day weight smart with the Green Tea extract. I just started taking them again regularly, and I can tell a difference - I think it is speeding up my metabolism a bit - just have to make sure to take with food or you get sick to stomach.

multi-vit, vit c, tums
last may doc added: vit e, fish oil and baby aspirin

I take them all at once otherwise I would probably forget. I have a weekly pills holder and I fill up the compartments. that way i don't forget and skip a day. It sits right on my kithcen counter. I never have a problem with feeling sick to my stomach if I take them on an empty stomach, but i know some people do.

I take an extra Green Tea extract on top of what is in the Weight Smart..it seems to help a bit. I used to take iron when I was having some problems, but now I don't because it really started messing up my system.

I take this one also. I'm also lucky to have a daily reminder right on my WW points tracker sheet for the day. ;)

I've never heard of green tea extract, I'll have to look into it. Thanks for you responses everyone! Have a good day!

HI,

i take 1x iron 65mg, 2x folic acid 400mcg, 1x b-12 1000 mcg and 2x calcium 600mg, my friend suggested I take them because a 1 a day does not have enough mg for each.
Do you think this is to much?
Diane

I also take a multi-vitamin and Omega 3 capsule with EPA and DHA (fish oils basically). I also take a capsule that is supposed to help with brain function- ironically the name escapes me....what does that say about the brain function :teeth: I also take them on a full stomach in the morning, but once in a while still feel like dirt after, in which case I take them at night so I'll sleep through the upset feeling (My DH calls me the amazing sleeping woman-I can sleep through anything.)

Listen to this!:p I take my multivitamin, borage oil, alpha lipoic acid, vit. e, 2 vit. c, fish oil, and calcium. I take it after I eat or I get a yukky stomach. It used to be hard for me to get them all down--even if I divided them up and only took a couple at a time, but now I'm used to it.

I take my vitamins. I want to be sure that my body has every advantage that it need to stay healthy and to lose weight.

I only take a 1 A Day Women's formula. I think this has done wonders for my general health. I might start taking a fish oil tablet, but not sure yet.

NTDIANE: I can't tell you about other vitamins you mentioned taking extra of, but I can tell you that 400mcg. of Folic Acid(Folate) is the usual RDA from the feds. Its 800 if you're trying to get pregnant. But I was reading in the paper that a lot of food manufacturers have been adding folate into their recipies and sure enough loking over my pantry i found it to be true. You probably don't need the extra vitamin if you take the 1 a day. I have a V8 in the morning with my breakfast and this gives another 400mcg. of folic acid. That's just fyi.
