I called today and I was told that cascades and lakes were not available in August. I then requested fountains, not knowing any information on it, just that it was fairly new. I have a feeling we will be put in spas because we have thursday or friday check-in. We have not decided if we will be going to HRH the first day we get there which would be thursday. I would appreciate any information or pictures of fountains or spas. Thank you :goodvibes

If you're checking in on Friday you have a good chance of getting either the Spas or Fountains. I own in this section and feel you will like it. I also stayed one time in the Spas. I felt it was noticeably more dated than the Fountains.
I have pics of both here : http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=4287948459
You will have to register (free) I believe to view the pics.

We stayed in the Spas section end of Februray and loved it. I'd actually request that area again over the newer units. It was very quiet, not nearly as crowded as the new sections. The unit was "dated" as far as decor goes, but not any more so than any other place we've ever stayed. It was all clean, not thread bare. We were within walking distance of the Spas & Cascades (?) pool, the general store & 2 of the resturaunts. It really was very nice.

Thank you for the info. I also enjoyed the pictures. What kind of pool is at the fountains and spas?

The Fountains is close to both the Fountains pool as well as the Lakes pool (depending on where your room is). The Fountains pool has a rock formation on one side with a waterfall. There are a couple of hot tubs nearby. The Lakes pool is smaller, with zero-depth entry and a fountain in the center.

The Spas pool is closest to the super pool. This is the largest pool on-site. It's open until 1 am. There are a couple of hot tubs.

I am getting slightly hysterical but I am taking deep breaths. I am sure this will not be another Liki Tiki situation but if you have ever stayed at a disgusting place for an extended period of time then you know how I feel.

I even stayed in the spring section and I love Sheraton Vistana.

yes the building was old and the carpert was thread worn - the second bathroom had no hot water.

but it was fine for us!!!

I also love deluxe places. this is not the ritz carlton - so don't expect that.

it is a timeshare!!! (okay it is not the Hilton Grand Vacation club either)

Or Vistana Village also. I will make the best of it it is just the not knowing that is very unsettling. I guess when I went to Liki Tiki I was not prepared now at least I am prepared for the worst and so it might not seem all that bad.

to the OP....

Diamond Lane begins to take requests 2-3 weeks ahead of your stay. And, be aware that it appears that they automaticly tell EVERYBODY that Cascades and Lakes are not available. (They know that this is what most everyone wants!!!)

you know for our purposes Spring worked better.

we were across the street from Cascades - and I don't think any of their rooms were as close to the car - as ours was.

in the older section your room is also bigger. Space is my family is probably more important than new....

Okay...... this is our first time at Vistana, we usually stay at the Polynesian, so this is a change, but we are really looking forward to it. I may have done my diamond lane too early.......is that possible??? I got this back on 3/26 and we check in on 5/20. Should I send an updated request, or will that just irk them??? We check in on a Friday....

Thanks!

oh, btw - this is what the email said:

Thank you for using the Diamond Lane. We have received your request for
Cascades/Lakes, however, I show that those areas are not currently
available. Should that change, we will be happy to accommodate you.

Please bring your reservation number to the Front Desk, we will
need the imprint of your credit card and a picture ID and keys will
be given to you at that time.

Thank you,
Diamond Lane.

We stayed in the Fountains section the end of March (after asking to switch from the Springs). We got a great unit near the gate to the back section of Vistana. It was recently refurbished unit. I would stay in the Fountains again.

I thought fountains was one of the newer units and they are already refurbishing them?

If they were back, near the gate, I'm guessing it was Fountains II ? Knowing the unit # would help. Fountains II backs up to the rear of the resort as well as the Vista Way apartments. Some of the Fountains II do not have a water view from the balcony though.
As for them being one of the newer sections----I'd say they're more in the middle but not as new as the Lakes and Cascades. They were built in the early 90's.
