Vistana question

I've just done a search and read through many threads but just hoping someone will clarify. I'm planning to do a trade through Interval although I'm noticing none of the availability states Lakes & Cascades as it use to.... It will be a Sat. checkin so I'm a little worried about the Courts section.

Is the section you are put in based on your check in day or the unit's sleeping capacity? If I reserve a unit for 8 but have a Sat. checkin, am I safe from getting put in the Courts / Falls section?

Thank you to the Vistana experts that can give me any info on this!

p.s. For those familiar with II.... Do the 3 letters after the units mean anything. It'll show several units with a different 3 letter code after it, like VIO etc. What does that mean??

Your placement is based on both your check-in day and the sleeping capacity. I'll be honest.....I rarely use II/RCI so not too familiar with their bookings. If you have an "sleeps 8", you do run the risk of the Courts still. The Falls has two twin beds in the second bedroom so that would be a "sleep 6". But there are different sized Courts units and some sleep 10 even---they have a loft bedroom.

The Courts is for Sat check-in only.
The Falls is Sunday check-in only.

Palms
Springs
Fountains I
Fountains II
Lakes

Thanks Maria for your response. I appreciate it sooo much. You just saved me from trying to rearrange our vacation to do a Sunday checkin. My chances are much better on Sat for getting a good section! We are going second week of November so I'm hoping that won't be a busy time anyway.

What about a Fri. check in? We haven't confirmed yet but we're seeing availability for 5/16/08 check in with max 8 capacity/6 private as a trade thru RCI. I don't know much about the different sections but can't you just request a newer section or recently remodeled at check in?

Friday could get you Spas or Palms.
Sunday could get you Palms.
Actually Sat or Sun, you have a chance of Lakes or Cascades. Because Lakes and Cascades have check-in areas for Fri/Sat or Sun check-ins.

I don't think the Courts is really bad as a whole. It's when you see all the sections and compare them. The Courts is a bit outdated and sort of 80's looking when compared to the newer Lakes and Cascades. So it's the comparison that gets people. And you pretty much pay the same price, so the majority, understandably, would want the new modern villas. I totally "get" why people desire the newer buildings. While the Courts is clean and well-maintained, it's just not modern looking in comparison.
I don't read many reports or see many pics from the Courts. I did save some pics from a DIS'er named booya who took several pics and these are from about 18-24 months ago I believe :

Lakes is undergoing refurbishment, Fountains, Fountains II, Springs & Falls are to follow with refurbishments. Try asking for a refurbished unit.

Courts is pre-1980. It existed as a townhouse community before Vistana took over the land. It is the only section not built by Vistana.

Fountains I/Fountains II 1990--1992
Lakes 1995-97
Cascades 1998-2001 (may have been later....it's a large section built over years)

gosh, the courts section doesn't look that good, I have a Sat. checkin, and hope to check in early do you think I will get stuck in the courts section, or could I ask for the fountains?

What are your dates ? If you're going during a lower crowd time, your chances are better of getting a newer unit. Fountains I and II do have Sat check-ins available. So it can't hurt to ask.
