Vista or wait for Windows 7??

I just received an advance copy of Windows 7 yesterday (doing a house party for them) I havent been home to play with it yet but DS (computer geek LOL) says its absolutely amazing! I have been running Vista since it first came out but he said this is way better and runs much faster. I did not do a clean install, I just upgraded and he said there were no issues at all with it.

That being said I would wait to get one with a clean slate if you can. Just less to mess up KWIM?

I received my Dell Inspiron in July and I will be getting a free Win7 upgrade. Had to register it on the MS website and I think I will get a CD or be able to upload right from MS. Running Vista Home Premium with 4GB ram and have not had any problems with it. Loved XP but with this new one I got Vista.

So far I've stuck with XP. Only time I dealt with Vista was when a coworker got a computer and I had to set it up for him. It was a bit of a hassle as the layout was different and boy was it SLOW to do ANYTHING.

Maximum PC, the computer mag that I read, gave Windows 7 a 9 review. And they were the guys who were avoiding Vista like the plague or swine flu....

I wonder, though, how many consumers are going to be shocked to see that Win7 has the Vista UI. From chatting with some folks, it almost sounds like they think everything will go back to what they're personally familiar with. (That is simply not the case.)

Ok so I'm home now and playing with it. Its A LOT faster!!

It looks a lot different, even from Vista and XP. Has some of each and then some of its own qualities I think. Does that make sense?

A lot more themes and backgrounds, more wallpapers, more stuff.

Not sure how I feel about the IE icons being stacked instead of side by side. That is going to take some gettng used to I think. Its a lot more streamlines, runs better, and is prettier LOL.

It has a lot more features, you can organize things a lot better for one. That is a great feature. So even if you have a lot of files scattered in different places you can pin them together and they will come up as one.

All in all I think it will be really good.

Keep in mind that initially an OS will always perform faster. It hasn't been overly burdened with more and more drains on its resources, nor patches which degrade its performance because they had to support backward compatibility with earlier specific code.
