We are travelling to WDW over Christmas...specifically 12/23-12/29. We usually visit in early December but we are travelling with a family that has never been there before and lost their father earlier this year. They would rather not be home during the holiday for obvious reasons.
Not having been there during this time, can anyone give me some advice on what to do and what not to do during this time? Dinner recommendations?? Helpful hints of any kind would be greatly appreciated.:D :earsboy: :earsgirl: ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Just be very prepared. Work out a schedule, take advantage of early entry days, make your priority seatings ahead of time for any place you really want to eat at.

We went over Christmas for the first time last year and loved it!

-Make PSs well in advance
-Be prepared for crowds
-Get to the parks before opening times and take advantage of EE
-Weather varies! Bring all sorts of clothes. We wore bathing suits while we swam on warm days, and winter coats & mitten on some cold nights.
-Do not miss the Candlelight Processional(the dinner package worked well for us)
-See the Christmas Parade
-Catch the tree lighting at MK...we got talking to one of the "Carolers" beforehand and she asked our kids to help out at the ceremony.
-The Epcot tree lighting was neat too.

Most of all, enjoy! :D

Don't be too overly disappointed on Christmas Day if you don't get into a lot of rides - depending on the park. Also an FYI - the parade you see on TV is NOT the parade you see on Christmas Day if that helps at all. I didn't know that the first year we went and we sat for 2 hours to get a spot that no one would be in front of me and I was extremely disappointed in the parade. I just didn't know and I never paid attention to the posts about the parade taping.

Also - take time to be slow and enjoy what you see. It is absolutely breathtaking the first time (and the second and the third, you get what I mean) you see the decorations. It's just undescribable and awesome. And don't be afraid to have tears when you see the MK tree light up for your first time - it's worth it!!!!! Also make some time to go to the resorts and check out the decorations.

One thing we made sure we did on Christmas Eve was Candlelight Processional - it was AWESOME!!!! And helped replace being away from home for the first time during the holiday season. You'll see more on that after the summer - it's the story of Christmas narrated by a, usually, well-known personality. The first time we saw it we saw Sandi Patty, the second time was a black gentleman that his name is escaping me - Reading Rainbow guy - LeMar something, and the third time I saw it was with John Tesh - AWESOME!!!!

As far as meals - we ate at Tony's on Christmas Day, just thought it would be a special place. I think I would have chosen Crystal Palace instead. It all depends on if you want to be in a park or not. If you want a special meal and don't want to be in a park think perhaps about one of the resort restaurants like California Grill atop the Contemporary.

That whole week will be filled with people - just make sure to have patience, take breaks if needed and you will have an awesome time (as if you wouldn't anyway!!! :D )
