Don't be too overly disappointed on Christmas Day if you don't get into a lot of rides - depending on the park. Also an FYI - the parade you see on TV is NOT the parade you see on Christmas Day if that helps at all. I didn't know that the first year we went and we sat for 2 hours to get a spot that no one would be in front of me and I was extremely disappointed in the parade. I just didn't know and I never paid attention to the posts about the parade taping.
Also - take time to be slow and enjoy what you see. It is absolutely breathtaking the first time (and the second and the third, you get what I mean) you see the decorations. It's just undescribable and awesome. And don't be afraid to have tears when you see the MK tree light up for your first time - it's worth it!!!!! Also make some time to go to the resorts and check out the decorations.
One thing we made sure we did on Christmas Eve was Candlelight Processional - it was AWESOME!!!! And helped replace being away from home for the first time during the holiday season. You'll see more on that after the summer - it's the story of Christmas narrated by a, usually, well-known personality. The first time we saw it we saw Sandi Patty, the second time was a black gentleman that his name is escaping me - Reading Rainbow guy - LeMar something, and the third time I saw it was with John Tesh - AWESOME!!!!
As far as meals - we ate at Tony's on Christmas Day, just thought it would be a special place. I think I would have chosen Crystal Palace instead. It all depends on if you want to be in a park or not. If you want a special meal and don't want to be in a park think perhaps about one of the resort restaurants like California Grill atop the Contemporary.
That whole week will be filled with people - just make sure to have patience, take breaks if needed and you will have an awesome time (as if you wouldn't anyway!!!
