I'll be in Seattle next year - would it be worth traveling to Vancouver for a couple of days?

There is a lot to see in Vancouver and it is definitely worth the trip. Stanley Park and the Vancouver Aquarium are both fantastic. If you can do a day-trip to Whistler, it's also wonderful even in the summer.

However, I would suggest visiting Victoria on Vancouver Island, instead. Victoria is absolutely beautiful, has wonderful restaurants, some fantastic parks (Butchart Gardens is a must-see!) and many attractions (it is the capital of British Columbia). Victoria is also very easy to get to from downtown Seattle - the Victoria Clipper (a passenger ferry) and the Kenmore Air seaplanes both travel direct from downtown Seattle to Victoria's inner harbor (downtown). To travel from Seattle to Vancouver, you have to travel by road and go through the land border crossing, which takes a bit longer and requires a car.

I second (or I guess "Third") the Victoria idea! You won't regret that!

Victoria is the way to go. I think one of the ferry lines is called the Victoria Clipper. I am sure you can google.

Our whole family enjoyed Victoria, even more than Seattle.

Also there is an underground city tour of Seattle everyone liked.

Remember you need a passport.

There's so much to see, and as usual never enough time. We did an 8 night, flying in and out of Seattle last year. This also included driving to Vancouver, then Whistler, car ferry from Vancouver to Victoria, car ferry from Sidney through the San Juan Islands to Anacortes, Washington and then driving back to Seattle. Whew! It sounds more hectic than it was. I loved every location and experience. Victoria was amazing, however. We splurged and took a seaplane tour of Vancouver. Enjoy your research. The planning is half the fun!

We've been blessed with the oppurtunity to explore all 3 of the mentioned places this year Victoria, Whistler, and Vancouver! Personally my favorite out of all 3 places is Victoria that said we are going to Whistler in about 2 weeks for a skiing/mom's birthday/christmas vacation. If it wasn't for the fact that Victoria doesn't have snow I'm 100% sure we would be there for Christmas instead of Whistler. We love all 3 cities but Victoria with all the lights, and beauty is to die for! You can take the Victoria Clipper up via. Seattle or go to Anacortes(about 2 hour drive(100% guess we live an hour away from Canada and Seattle and it takes us about an hour to get to Anacortes) from Seattle and take a fery) also you can take a sea plane out of Seattle which is a very cool way to see the city from above! If you want to go skiing Whistler has an amazing village with tons of skiing/shopping/dinning etc. that's a favorite for us! Vancouver is very nice also, we went during the Olympics this year as we were fortunate to get to go for a week! There's lots of shopping, also hockey centers etc. Here's BC's website BC is deffinately a place to check out it's just absolutely beautiful! http://www.hellobc.com/

Another benefit of Victoria is that you can do it in one day, without a car. Most of the times I've been, we've just taken a ferry over and back in one day. While you're there, the majority of the tourist stuff is walking distance from the dock. If you want to do Buchart Gardens you'd need to catch a bus, but otherwise you can just wander for a few hours and find all sorts of stuff to do.

Victoria is pretty small, whereas Vancouver is more of a city experience. I like both, but for touristy stuff I prefer Victoria. I love other areas of Vancouver Island for vacation also. My favorite thing is taking the ferry from Nanaimo back to the mainland at Horseshoe Bay. We've done that and headed up to Whistler from there. Gorgeous!
