Without a car, how can I get to the other resorts from my home BWV to do some sightseeing? Is it to much trouble and to much wasted time?
Also we will be there on July 21-26, is there a list of what shows are still open and at what Parks? thanks Paul new BWV owner

Other resorts in general or the DVC resorts?

The easiest way is to tack some resort exploring on to park visits. Coming or going from the MK, take either the water launches or monorail to see the Contemp, Poly & GF. Take the boat to WLV. You might also want to eat a meal while you are doing your visiting.

To see OKW, you can take a bus from any theme park and then you could either take the bus or the boat to DD and pick up transportation back to BWV.

Visiting the All-Stars and the moderates is more time-consuming since you literally have to go there from a hub (like a theme park or DD) and then return to the hub and then get back to BWV. CSR would be the exception since a bus runs directly from BWV (with stops at DD as well).

As far as show lists - B & B, Hunchback, and other live show schedules are changing weekly, guided by expected crowds and occupancy rates at on-site hotels. You can pick up schedules as you enter the theme parks, or possibly get some from your front desk (although the ones from the desk always have a disclaimer that times are subject to change)

I like to combine resort exploration with dinner.

Normal sequence of events:
  1. We go to dinner a bit early
  2. My wife goes shopping
  3. I get bored
  4. Wife continues to shop anyway
  5. I go have a beer at the pool bar
  6. We meet for dinner (I have another beer, as I must hear about what my wife bought  )
  7. Resort is now explored
    [/list=1]

Thank you Maistre...for making me smile so early on this rainy icky day. I will print that schedule for my DH on our future trips. ;)

To answer this question more directly, it is a hassle. Getting from one resort to another usually means taking 2 segments of transportation with 2 waiting times as well but that doesn't make it impossible. If it's something you expect to do several times, I'd rent a car. There are ways to minimize the time and effort though. I'll give a few examples, I'll concentrate on BW since that's where you're staying but the principle's apply in many ways. To get to the Monorail resorts, you could walk to Epcot, take the monorail then change monorails if necessary at TTC. You could also take the MK bus and then back track by monrail, walking (Contemporary) or ferry (Poly). Other alternatives would be going to Epcot, MGM, MK, DD or a water park and taking a bus for any resort. Walking or taking the Boat to MGM works pretty well but takes a while. In addition to other options, to get to WL or FW, get to TTC then take the bus OR get to MK and take the boat.

These options work best when you can plan the interim stop to your benefit. You could go to DD and shop then take the bus to the desired resort. Or you could go to MK, spend an hour or 2, then move on. Don't forget though that you must make a return trip which is actually the harder trip for most of us. The things I hate most about these methods are the time wasted and the fact that if I run behind on a reservation, I get stressed out. Good luck.

I agree with Dean. Vacations are not long enough anyways and to try and do this will commit you to some serious bus time. My DH keeps thinking an hour on the bus equals 4 holes of golf.;)

Paults, just walk(or take the boat) from BWV over to Disney-MGM. Both take about the same amount of time, about 10 minutes, then walk to the bus hub, and get on the bus for the Disney resort you want to visit. Reverse this procedure when you want to return to BWV. It's the easiest way to see, and eat at, all the resorts, and it won't be any hassle at all. We did this both at Easter and Christmas, and will do this in two weeks when we will be there again. I'm so excited, I just can't wait to go back home!:Pinkbounc

Corrrect me if this is wrong, but walking from BW to Epcot would require entry with your pass to get from International Gateway to the main entrance for bus transportation to other resorts. From BW, take the boat during park hours to MGM and transfer to bus for chosen resort. No entry is required through a park. Time consuming, from other non-waterway resorts but direct ,would be busing to closest park and transferring from there to resort bus. Also , Downtown and West Side are great bus locations to get anywhere especially after park hours. West Side is open much later than DT so buses run longer hours from there. Take into account seasonal hours of parks, etc.:)

I used to rent a car, but never used it enough to cover the costs.
Now we just take a cab. It's easy - just call bell services and they send the cab right to your building. Coming back the bell desk will get you one at the other resort. I never spend what I would on renting a car, and have been to almost all the other resorts for dinner and exploration. Anital.

Correct, many DVC members have AP or other similal passes that makes this an easy option.

I just wish this DVC member would stay on land each year to use an AP. I just can't give up the cruising every other season (yet). However, with the point values getting less each season for DCL, an AP may just be a purchase in the future for this DVCer and Dh.:D
