This year we have had to tighten our budget and had to limit the number of park days. We are going to AK, Epcot and MK only one day each and the rest of the time enjoy Fort Wilderness where we are staying. My DD has wanted to do the Halloween party for a while... so our MK day IS the party day. Our plan is to be there right at 4pm and stay until the very bitter end. We do want to dress up and see the fireworks and parade... but we also want to be able to do the rides. Does anyone have any ideas or strategies on how to get as much out of MK during the halloween party? One thing I read on here in one post was to avoid the first parade and use that time to ride rides... so we are planning to do that. Also, I read that many people leave after the final fireworks and the rides would be easier to get on. So.. we will stay until closing... MK is our favorite park... but we just couldn't do both a regular ticket and a Halloween ticket.... it's too bad that the Halloween ticket can't be included in the Magic your way package... it is as expensive as the regular ticket... oh well... we are up for the challenge and do plan to make the best of it.

Any ideas would be great....

So, if I read this right you're getting a 2 day ticket to do AK and Epcot and a ticket for MNSSHP, is that right?

For MNSSHP last year we got to the park at 4 pm and started doing rides. We ended doing everything that was open at least once and some things multiple times. The only open rides we skipped were Space Mountain as DN was too little (she was a week shy of her 5th birthday) and Splash Mountain as we didn't want to get wet. The longest line we waited in was for the Indy cars and that was only about 10 min. We saw the 2nd parade and the fireworks and stayed until closing. We were also able to get some character meets in (Mickey, Minnie, Cinderella & Prince Charming, Snow White and the Dwarves).

Have a great time!

You may already be aware of this, but because of the way the theme park tickets are priced you will pay very little to add days past the third day. For example, an adult 3 day ticket is $233.24 (including tax) and an adult 4 day ticket is $239.63... and after that it's only $3 (plus tax) per day to add on additional days.

If you can convince your daughter to give up the halloween party you can probably do a park every day instead of spending a lot of days at your resort for nearly the same price.

Yes, that is correct. We aren't doing the park hopper either... it added too much.

jumping from a 2 day to a 3 day increases from 757.00 to over 1000.00 we are buying for 4 adults and 1 child).... we can't afford to do this... otherwise, we wouldn't have the issue. There is no convincing daughter of not going.... the tickets for MNSSHP have already been purchased.

The type of tickets can't be changed at this point, I am mainly looking for strategies on how to make the most of the halloween party and MK. Darcy... it was helpful to see that you were able to enjoy MK and rides during the party... that does make me feel better.

Unfortunately... to even be able to go to Disney this year with all the increases in prices... we had to do it this way. I understand it may not be ideal and all... but we are working with all we have right now and just wondering if there are certain things to know...

Thanks a lot! We are looking forward to it very much..... not too bummed about the budget issues (we had to use some of our Disney fund to replace a tankless water heater.... $$$$$)... anyway, there is a lot to do at FW on the days we won't be at the parks... and 1 day at MK is better than 0. :goodvibes

I think your trip sounds lovely!! I told DH that one year I want to go for a week and not do parks at all! :scared1: I think it's fun just people-watching and soaking up the positive energy...not to mention the wonderful food! I hope you have a wonderful week, I bet Ft. Wilderness will be a wonderful place to stay.

We just did the party on fri. 25th and the ride lines were walk ons. I think our longest line was for the tea cups we had to wait for the next ride to stop. Maybe it was because it was sept. and not closer to halloween. I don't know but the park was pretty empty. We also did trick or treating and watched the villans show, and fireworks, forgot to catch the 2nd parade. We did stay untill the end and it was hot in a costume for 6+ hrs
