DH and I went to WDW in September last year, and it was heaven. The weather was hot (which we like) but we walked onto all the rides, prices were low, we got all the Value season perks.

I am starting a career as a teacher this fall. So, September trips are out for us :( We don't really want to really go around Christmas, we like the hot weather and want to visit water parks.

What are you honest opinions about going in the summer? Am I just being "September Spoiled?" I really want to go again next year, and our last day of school is May 31st so I could go in early June. Are the crowds really that bad??

We've gone in June and July and loved it. It's hot and humid, but if that's what you like, then who cares?:D It does rain alot though, take the rain gear. The crowds are heavy, but Fastpass has helped immensely with line problems. We're going in August this year, so summer hasn't scared us off one bit.:D We also go in summer to avoid taking DD out of school - it's way too hard for her to catch up otherwise.

I like going in the summer. The parks are open late and most of the attractions are up and running. They usually don't do any major rehabs in the summer. Also, you can take afternoon breaks at the resort. Just drink lots of water, get to the parks early, use fast pass and take an afternoon break.

P.S. If you want to read about the parks in early June, you can click on the link to my trip reports below. I get pretty detailed about crowds and wait times in my reports.

Hope the crowds aren't too bad this July - used to going end August/ beginning September. on't mind the weather - it's the crowds I'm not too keen on. Will have to try to get up earlier and make better use of those EE mornings especially at MK - not really an early morning person though.

Puffkin - I'll be at ASMo at the same time as you.

I've been in the summer one time, and it was... well, I won't say *awful*, because it was still Disney, but it was just a totally different experience. You say you like the heat, so that's a plus... but the heat in Florida and the heat in the rest of the world are really two different things. Just drink lots of water and look for shade as much as possible.

As for the crowds... we were in MK at 10am, and the line at a drink stand went all the way across the path and looped around a bench. When we saw that, we laughed and spent the rest of the day at Storm Along Bay...

Of course, this was back in the day before FastPass, so the lines were so long it almost wasn't worth it. I imagine that isn't as much of a problem now.

I guess the biggest thing is just be patient, and if you get hot and tired don't be afraid to take a break. WDW isn't gonna sink into the swamp anytime soon. :D

If I had to choose a time to go in the summer, I would choose early in June or as late in August as possible. I have not gone in early June, but have a good friend who goes as soon as school lets out and loves that time. We have been a few times in late August (as late as the school calendar will allow!) and found it very manageable. We went in July last year and will never go in July again! I know lots of people love this time and do just great but it was way too crowded for us and hotter than when we had been in August! (Granted Florida had a "heat wave" that week with very little rain, so it didn't cool off at night!)

Early June, many schools are not out yet, and late August lots of schools have resumed. I loved it when we could go in September too, but now that the kids are in middle and high school, those days are gone:(

We are so crazy to do July again!! It really is hot. Your feet begin to burn from the hot pavement. Thank goodness for A/C.

I'm a teacher and I love going to WDW in August. I time it so that I get back about two days before I have to start back to school, around August 20th for me. I start the year in a great mood and am refreshed to tackle a new year. The summer crowds have started to lessen and we rarely have long lines. I also run into a lot of teachers during that time as well.
