My son is at Disney Vero today. He rode down from college in St. Augustine to check on my mom's house there and Disney. The boardwalk from the pool to the beach is closed because a lot of the dunes washed away and it it unstable. The room with all the glass windows in shutters is closed. There is a lot of debris on the beach - wood pilings with nails. parts of buildings, etc.. so he said you really can't use the beach. One beach cottage perilously close to the edge according to my son. People from Vero are starting to head west because of Hurricane Jeanne.Lines are forming for gas again. He said at one gas station on Rte 60 the cars were backed up out onto the HighwaY. Let's hope Jeanne doesn't head that way again. My mom's house was O.K. but her development sustained a lot of damage during Francesand one resident was killed. My son said preparations are already underway in case Jeanne hits.
