Visit Parks BEFORE the Resort?

Here is the scenario - we are driving on Thursday December 17th and staying in an offsite hotel that night prior to a week long stay at Coronado Springs.

We will be paid in full, have a credit card on file with PIN and sign up for on line check in.

Our hope is that we can check out of the off-site hotel and with this and our magic bands go directly to EPCOT. Has anyone done this? Heard of it being done?

I thought I saw something like this a while back but cant find the source. I did see this article which mentions the on line check in and skipping the desk but it doesnt mention the parks or parking pass.

I think with the skip-the-desk checkin, your stuff should be active, but don't quote me on that.

We did on-line and early check in as we were driving up from Coral Springs I got a txt on my room number. That was around 8 am. We got in our room with the MB and headed to the parks.. WOW was that great..

With online check-in, choose the earliest arrival time and everything in your account will be activated at that designated time. You can head to the parks before you end up at your resort later in the day.

For those who have done this, can they scan your MB at the entrance to a parking lot to show you are a resort guest and should not be charged?

I haven't done this as an individual guest, but we might be using this scenario on a visit next January. I usually travel with large groups, and even when we are staying onsite, if we go to a park before checking in, they charge us for bus parking, then I get it refunded after checkin at the resort.

Yes, they'll scan the MB with their handheld scanners.

Anyone recently try going directly from to the parks before checking in to their Disney Resort? We're doing this again, staying at a Hilton the night before and wanting to go directly to MK for rope drop.... do they scan your magic band/dont charge you for parking at ticketing and transportation?
