My adult son is coming for a visit and i thought maybe we would take a day at the parks. Couple questions
1. Is there still no park hopping?
2. Do we have to stay on property to get tickets? We want to stay off this time.
3. I am fl resident any specials besides ap i should look at?

1. Hopping starts again Jan 1, 2021. It comes with some new rules. You must visit the park you reserved first and hopping can only happen after 2pm. WDW hasn't released exactly how that will work in MDE yet but those rules gives a good idea of what to expect.

2. No, you do not need to stay on property for tickets. You can still buy tickets thru WDW or a third party vendor like Undercover Tourist.

One thing to note, the Park Reservations use 3 'buckets'. A certain total of tickets are available thru each group: Ticket Holders, Resort Guests, and Annual Passholders. One group may still show availability to reserve when others do not. Depending on when you are going, this may not matter much.

3. I'm not sure about FL specials, sorry.

Disney is not currently selling new annual passes, for Florida residents or others (except for some people whose APs expired this year), although they are allowing renewals.

You say you're going for "a day" at the parks. I believe the current Florida resident discounts only apply to multi-day tickets of three days or more, not to one-day tickets. However, I'm not a Florida resident and have no experience concerning purchasing those.

And here is the current availability for each “bucket, so you can check before firming plans:
