We'll be at WDW in a week, and would like to visit DVC just to get a better picture of the resorts. We're interested in OKW or SSR, so we thought we'd just drive over and walk around a bit.

What's the best way to do this? I guess we can't just drive up, park, and explore? (We are staying at Swan.)

You'll need to make a reservation. There are DVC kiosks in all the hotels. They will make a reservation for you. The DVC van will pick you up at your hotel. Plan on being gone 2 hours. They will show you the models for AK and BLT. You will also get free ice cream and other 'thank yous'.

Thanks. I should have said that we're interested in buying resale, so we're not really interested in AKV or BLT at this point.

Just thinking out loud: would it work best to park at Downtown Disney and boat over to SSR?

It may still be a good idea to take the tour. You will get alot of information that will help you with the decision.

You can park at any Disney resort, including OKW and SSR,and explore to your heart's content. The resorts are all open to the public.

There's a DVC sales center at SSR, with models of AKV and BLT. If you want the formal tour and sales presentation, just ask the representative at the DVC desk at your resort (or any theme park) to make a reservation at a time that's convenient for you.

Take a bus to DTD. Enjoy DTD, then take the bus or boat to SSR or OKW. Taking the busses or boats allows the resort to envelope you in the atmosphere! Walk around, talk to CMs, tell them what you are doing, they will be delighted to discuss the resorts with you.

Have a great time in "The World"!

Still let them talk to you and explain it to you so you are 100% sure you understand it. They are NOT a pressure sales. They will answer all your questions, show you a couple of clips and show you the mock ups (current were, as stated BLT and AKL). At SSR, where the DVC center is, they also have 'open houses' so evenings, sometimes they have them at other DVC's also. Feel free to stop at one of those also.

there's a boat from DTD to SSR and another boat to OKW (i don't think they are on the same route any more, but it's possible).

there's also a model of the BWV on the boardwalk near the swan that you can feel free to wander around in with no reservation needed. (as long as you're staying over in that area, it's definitely worth a look and won't take much time.)

Plus even if you buy resale, you'll be assigned a guide (aka salesperson) so this way it'll be a person you have actually met before.

FWIW, you can drive up to and park at the DVC center, if that's still something you're trying to figure out.

I'd also recommend renting points and staying at one (or more) of the resorts as well. We did three in four days and had fun!

After you're done at a park, go catch the bus to OKW or SSR. Get off in the middle of that resort and explore to your heart's content. When you are done looking around, just catch one of their buses to DHS and walk/boat back to the Swan.:thumbsup2

Don't know if they are still doing this but, just for listening to the pitch they provided instant fast passes. One of the gifts, and you can get the brochures that give you an idea of all the DVC resorts.

They are not a pressure sales team either. Much different experience than other "time share" presentation I've seen. :confused3

What ever you do, enjoy the trip. I can't wait till my first trip home in Dec!:goodvibes:goodvibes:yay::woohoo::banana::dance3:

Interesting point about taking the boat over to SSR from DTD. We were waiting in line last March for our boat and the people in front of us told the driver that they wanted to ride over to SSR to take a look. He turned them away and said it was for SSR guests only. Now I don't think he would have said anything if they hadn't mentioned what they were doing but it was the only time I had heard that. It was very busy so maybe it wouldn't have mattered another time.
