The visa waiver forms are given out fairly early in the flight so that you have plenty of time to fill them out. You must fill in a green form for each member of your party and also fill in a white customs declaration form (one for each family). The forms will be checked at immigration and then the bottom portion is stapled into your passport to be handed in when you leave - this gives a record for the US Immigration Service of when you entered the US and that you left again!

The forms are simple to complete but must be done properly as the immigration officer will make you go back to do them again if they are wrong - believe me you do not want to go back to the end of a 50 person queue.

If you are not sure on anything, ask any member of the cabin crew and they will be happy to help. (And dont forget to tick 'No' to the question 'Are you a terrorist?' :teeth: )

thanks for that, another thing to tick off my question list, as a first timer to the States, i feel i am asking some silly questions, but hey all you people on the DIS are great and know all the questions. Thanks again

I accidentally ticked the "female" box on my DS's visa waiver form. last October

The immigration officer said (read in American accent please)

"Who completed this form? Ma'am, just look straight at him. Is he a boy or a girl? Son, your mom needs a holiday."

He changed the tick and said "Y'all can stay until 14 January if you like"

I've never had one with a sense of humour before!

Hi

We were lucky in 2003 we had a really nice guy checking our visa waiver forms - he asked my DS7 at that time who this was - pointing at my DD16 - he said her name - the immigration guy looked puzzled and said 'what'd you call her?' - she is known by her middle name which is DS7 didn't know - after explaing etc he told us to have a lovely holiday and for me, the mother, to call any more kids by their given name and laughed. Not many seem to be able to smile far less have a joke.
