Visa gifts cards

Has anyone used these to reserve a room? My aunt got me one for 100 dollars and I would like to use it to help pay for my trip to Disney. I am assuming that they are somewhat like a debit card. It has my name on it and looks just like a credit card. Any info will be great. I love you guys!!!

I haven't used a VISA giftcard but I have a Webcertificate Mastercard that is sort of like a prepaid debit card. They work the same way. If the deposit on the room is more than $100, you would have to let the CM know that they would need to charge the card for only $100 and charge the remaining balance to another card. Otherwise, the giftcard would be rejected for "unlimited funds". If this seems like too much of a hassle, make the deposit with a regular credit card and then use the giftcard to make a $100 payment on the room balance.

I've never used one to reserve a room, but I've received a couple of them. They work pretty much like a regular visa for most things, but I think the last post is right on holding or reserving a balance. I know you should not use them for pay at the pump, because that system reserves a certain amount, usually $50 - $80 on the card even if you only get $10 worth of gas and does not refund the difference for 48 - 72 hours. So, you can be left with $90 on your card and out of gas, but no way to pay because you have a hold for $75 put on it. It's happened to me. LOL. Called the credit card company and they explained it all. You can still use it for gas, but you should always pay inside directly, never at the pump. Otherwise, it works just like a visa.
