I have been picking up lots of extra hours at work and they give us Visa gift cards as bonuses. I am going to have $800 in $50 increments. I usually buy Disney Dollars at our Disney store but they said Disney is revamping them and they won't get a shipment until after we leave next month. Do you think I can buy Disney Dollars there with them or maybe put them on my hotel bill to use for charging purposes? I hate to try to use them in the parks. It is such a hassle to remember what the balance is on each of them after I spend part of them. What do you think?

Not to rain on your parade because that's a nice chunk of change you got their but the visa gift cards are a PIA to use! Hope you do better with them than I did. Most of the stores I tried to use them in gave me a hard time because they can't tell what the balance is on them so they wont let you use it! Forget restaurants they wont take them at all. This has been my experience. Maybe others have had success............but I doubt it. sorry :guilty:

Anyway Good Luck!!!! Enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

My sister received a bunch of these as Christmas gifts & never had a problem using them anywhere (Wal-Mart, Target, Amazon.com, our local mall, and a couple of restaurants).

I receivied two Visa gift cards for Christmas they were very easy to use. I also gave them as gifts for my babysitter, my sons' teachers, and my youngest's feeding therapist. They never has a problem.

When I go over the limit, i just paid the rest with cash.

I have bought and received them and never had a problem. I think they are great. My son is going to Disneyland in a few weeks and I will be buying one for him instead of sending him with cash.

I wouldn't go thru the hassle of making multiple $50 purchases of Disney Dollars only to turn around and place them on my room account. Instead, I would just use my room card for charging purposes and then reconcile the account prior to checking out by using the VISA giftcards.

In all honesty, I find these giftcards to be a major hassle as well. They are treated as debit cards and if there is not enough on them to cover the entire purchase, they will be rejected. Instead, you need to have a cashier who is saavy enough to take a cash payment for the difference first, and then apply the giftcard to the rest. AND, if not used within specific time periods, they begin to lose their value. Some companies charge $2.50 or more per month against the balance on the card if they are not used up within a 6-month period.

I have never had any problem using them either. But, I make sure I know exactly how much is on the card so when I do go to use it I tell the cashier the amount on the card so it can be done properly otherwise it will decline if you go over. I like these cards (my husband hates them). I wouldn't think their would be any problem using them for Disney Dollars once you get to Disney. Thanks.
