They should be accepted anywhere that accepts VISA. I had no problem using them at WDW on my last trip.

FYI - keep track of your balance by keeping your receipts. I did lose track once and had to go online to find the balance.

This is very good advice to avoid embarassment! If you purchase something that is say $20.....and you only have $19.00 on your card....it will deny the charge, which of course is embarassing. The cashier has no way (other than trial and error) to figure out your balance....BUT....if you know going in that you have $19.00 on the card, you can tell her that you'd like to pay $1.00 in cash and use your gift card for the balance.

One other thing to check.....whether your card will allow you to actually use up the last penny....I've read people complaining that they have $19.00 left but can only use it to charge $18.99. I guess if I knew I had $19 and it rejected it, I'd just tell them to do $18.99, but it might be better to know ahead of time....and the people in line behind you will appreciate it, lol. I don't know how you find this out, except maybe to read your paperwork that came with it, or call and ask? The girls' cards are rechargeable, so we never have it that low, so we've never experienced it.

These posters are correct - you have to keep track of your balance (to the penny) left on the card, or the card will get rejected. I work at a credit union where we offer the cards to our members, and know that this is true.

For me, I use old-fashioned paper travelers checks in large denominations. (I don't charge to the room because we have four unrelated adults staying in the same room - too hard to keep track of whose charges are whose.) I get travelers checks in $50 or $100 increments, then cash them as needed. Works great for me -- it's easy to keep track of what I'm spending!

I'm with you ZoZo, I prefer traveler's checks. Decided to give the gift card a try this past trip, but didn't like the "unknown" balance part. Also the gift card rounds up to the nearest $ vs. travelers checks give you exact change - much easier to use!!
