Virgin's offering their own free dining

just received an e-mail from Virgin. Apparently they're offering their own free dining plan. You have to stay at one of 5 hotels for 14 nights. you're given 14 vouchers for breakfast and 14 vouchers which can be used for lunch or dinner. However the choice of where you can eat is abysmal! Breakfast there's a choice of Subway or the Cricketer's Arms, for Dinner you can choose from the S'way C. arms, Nascar grille or Senor Frogs. However you can only eat at Nascar and SF once a week. I suppose you can look at in two ways..

1st...it will enable families that have never been due to costs to experience orlando because they really will be able to know what its going to cost them.

2nd..god help them if they do!! It sounds dreadful..but that's because we know it is...they are going to be victims big time...

I do Orlando on a budget and have done it on a budget but never, ever would I book a package holiday because it gave me $13 worth of Subway free per day. I would also never do a holiday without researching the cost of food?

Besides: it's $13 worth of Subway a day. If £120 worth of sandwiches each what sways your decision to book a holiday costing (knowing Virgin) in excess of £1500 for two weeks per person and fly your family half way around the world, good on Virgin for figuring that one out!

people def DO NOT do research (Virgin holidays to Orlando are still going aren't they..I know lots people that have booked straight out of the brochure (we have also done it on several occassions) because it just looks like a good deal to them without doing any research.. The first time we ever booked we did that too, the most we researched was by buying a book.
Also you need to remember that a lot of people are not experienced travellers, they know VH's as a brand and trust that brand, and Orlando is a lot of money when you add in all the extra's ie tickets and people really do just want the ease of somebody else doing it all for them so they know its right. If VH is telling them this dining offer is good then they are going to believe it. The lady I work with didn't realise that she could price up flights, hotel etc seperately or even that she could do anything other then 7, 14 or 21 nights!! She def would have fallen for this offer!
It's a shame that Virgin Holidays are doing this because we all know its not the way to go but so many people will go for it because they will think 'so all we have to think about now is spending money' which is true in a way. We often meet lots of people at the airport departure gate where this is their first ever time and don't have any idea of what to expect out there or what they are going to do other then Disney.
I think this is VH's way to trying to get it as close to all inclusive as they can because people flock to Barbados etc for all inclusive its a huge incentive.

I just booked 14 nights at the Beach Club this august and the same holiday with virgin holidays would have cost an extra £1260.74

Regardless at the cost of a virgin holiday, this is quite possibly the most pathetic "free dining" option ever assembled

I assume they are hoping other restaurants will join the deal - bit like the kids eat free card which adds new restaurants from time to time.

Can't see anywhere worth eating joining though.
