I have gotten myself roped into being a chaperone for my DS's senior class trip. One day will be spent at Virginia Beach and one day at Busch Gardens-Williamsburg. I've never been to Virginia Beach, so I've no idea what's there to do for the day.

Any information or ideas would be greatly appreciated-I've done Busch Gardens before, so I'm somewhat familiar with that.

I love VA. Beach. Are you looking for something for yourself, the kids or everyone?

Just plan on hanging out at the beach!

VA Beach isn't one of my favorite places to go, and it's not that far for me to drive.

There's the beach during the day, and walking up and down the boardwalk (which is actually a wide cement walk between the row of hotels and the beach that's great for people watching and rollerblading, jogging, etc.) or walking on the street side with lots of little touristy shops, candy stores, ice cream, etc. Oh...and there's some miniture golf places too.

During the summer they have a "Beach Street" thing going with jugglers, mime acts, etc during the evening hours...which my boys at ages 12 and 13 have no interest in.

I miss the real "boardwalk" like they have at Wildwood, NJ with amusement piers.

Now Busch Gardens, Williamsburg on the other hand is wonderful, and ranks right up there with Disney on cleanliness. It's a beautifully kept park!

But other than that, VA Beach is for tanning and 'hooking up' ! ;)

Oh joy-I don't sunbathe so I can see this may be a looong day at the beach! We'll be there just for the day with about 40 teenagers. I imagine there will probably be a few fried bodies after spending the day at the beach. I didn't know if there's anywhere to walk to or something to help "entertain" me. The other woman chaperone will probably love to "cook" at the beach, but I'm good for about 20 minutes doing that. What about restaurants(fast-food)around there?

You can easily walk up to one of the hotels to eat, many of them have cute little outdoor cafe type set-ups, but I don't think it would accommodate 40 kids!

A street or two over there is a Pizza Hut, and there are several McDonald's too. There's also some great seafood places!
