Has anyone attended one of these recently? I've already got my tickets etc., but are there incentives to attend? Last time I went to Disney we got free meals a Planet Hollywood (not with Virgin) which was worth a hour of our time as it was VIP service, i.e. no wait!

Hi Celestine :) I remember getting those VIP Planet Hollywood passes on a BA flight in 1999...... they were brilliant!

However, the general concensus on the boards is usually that the welcome meetings take valuable time away that could be spent at the parks, although first-timers may find them useful.

I hope someone who has been to a Virgin Welcome meeting recently can advise you if they are currently offering any perks, but do look for discount vouchers in leaflets in restaurants/cafes and hotel lobbies.

we went to a virgin meeting last year (september) and it is a new style meeting. it is only 20 mins long but is still hard sell on trips and tickets. the only reason we went was because they were having a free raffle for a orlando 5 day flexi ticket and there were only 7 other families there and we won it (woo hoo) but if you've got your tickets i wouldnt bother really.
there is no free meal offer

hope that helps

We used Virgin in 1999 and we didn't attend the meeting. This seemed to annoy the Virgin Reps as they continually phoned our hotel and left messages asking when we would be attending.

We agree with the consensus that the time can be better spent.

We did the meeting in 2002 this was before I found these boards and my first visit for 18 years! (that makes me feel really old). You can book all your tickets before and find all the info you need before you go. I think it is a waste of time when all you want to do is start you hols!

Hi Elaine

The last time I attended one a year or so ago it was in the AMC cinema at Downtown Disney - not sure if this is still the case though.

I can just imagine the scene as I tell my 6 year old daughter that unfortunately we will be late going to see Cinderellas Castle because mummy and daddy have to go to a meeting to be persuaded to buy tickets we already have. More than my lifes worth.

My view is that a modicum of advance planning means that such meetings are redundant. Anybody who spends any time on this site would be wasting their time at such meetings.

This site is my Welcome meeting. Impartial, freely given advice on whatever subject you can think of. Where the people giving the information genuinely want you to have the holiday of a lifetime

I have no intention of attending to buy tickets etc. & have planned a light day wandering 'round DTD rather than commando park (that starts on day 2). DD is 3 & desperately wants to meet the mouse so we're going to Studio M, but if there was a good freebie we'd attend the meeting for that whilst there.
