Virgin Welcome meeting - What time is it on?

Does anyone know what time the welcome meetings are ? Are they early enough that you can still get to a park for opening? We want to pick up the free Hard Rock Cafe tickets, but not waste any time at the meeting.

think it depemds what hotel you are staying at but usually around 8.30am - 9.00am

I will be staying at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott for the first 3 nights before transfering over to OKW. Does anyone know the nearest welcome meeting? Do they run one in Universal it self?

Even when staying on I-Drive, we have still always gone to the Welcome Meeting at the AMC, DTD. We have never been told that there WAS another choice!!! Saying that, its not a problem for us as we always have a car...not sure how they cater for the non drivers...???

Maybe they have one at their "Flagship Hotels", which used to be the Village Premier, no idea if it still is though. Maybe a flick through the brochure may be enlightening? The DTD Welcome Meeting always opened at 8am, but you can turn up anytime between 8am-11am. These days, being veterans at the whole caboodle, we dont bother (unless we have a problem and need to see a rep).

To not waste time at the meeting is impossible once bitten twice shy I would never go again, not even if they paid me!!For about 2 hours they just try to sell you tour tickets any freebies are saved till the end.

Dont think they they have done the meeting at AMC DTD for a couple of years.

They now make individual visits to hotels.

This means it is usually just you and the rep unless other families checked in to your hotel at the same time.

We have not had to sit through any form of hard sell - in fact we eneded up telling the rep a few local restaurants we would recommend etc

Just tell them you have all the tickets etc you want and you just need the Hard Rock tickets.

It really isnt a problem.

I agree that the "Welcome" meetings are pretty pointless if it is not your first time or have done your homework about Florida.

Just grab a rep and ask for your freebies! We've never had a problem with this they are only too willing to hand them over.

It's good that they have done away with the DTD only meeting as that was a bit of a pain to get to.

Thanks for all your replies. I think there is going to be one at the Holiday Inn off ID. We have only booked Flydrives and in the past we were not told where the meetings are or what time. We are only going to bother with it if we can just pick up the tickets, otherwise we will miss it out and go straight to US. I don't want to waste any park time.

We didn't go to the meeting in March and my wife just saw the rep at the end and got our vouchers. There were no problems with this.

Hi,
We went to the Virgin meeting last month at the Virgin Store Downtown Disney. It lasted about 45 mins, nothing like as elaborate as they used to be. Bad news was that the rep tried to say because we were on a flydrive we didn't qualify for the free meal tickets .I pointed out we had still booked through Virgin holidays and she checked with her supervisor and we eventually got the tickets, made the burgers at Hard Rock taste even better as they were free.

The meeting was at 9:30 am and we received an invite from the rep at the airport in Orlando.

We went to the meeting as being first-timers we thought it might be useful.

WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!!!

The rep was pretty useless compared to the wealth of info I've learned from this board and he wouldn't give us the Hard Rock tickets until after the meeting was over. Wouldn't bother going to another one, would rather spend the time in the parks.
