Does anyone if you can upgrade a seat (ie from econ to PE) using airmiles?

I've done this at Las Vegas, returning to Gatwick. I think it cost me about 10,000 miles (might be wrong but certainly about that amount)

Give flying club a ring before you go or check at the airport when you are checking in.

When we done it Las Vegas they had signs up saying upgrades available, so we asked and had this option. No brainer really!!!

You can definitely do it, but the codes are limited (maybe just a couple per flight), so you normally have to book early, and be flexible with dates, to get lucky.

Just a tip for anyone else thinking of upgrading - some friends came over to visit us a few of weeks ago and said that there was a huge "Does my bum look small in this?" PE banner above the check-in desks at Heathrow telling you to ask the check-in agent for upgrade prices.

They upgraded to PE there and then for just £99 each, which is an awesome price - especially to San Francisco. Might be worth a shot for someone else!
