Virgin upgrade info needed please!

Hi all,

We are flying 5th November and are thinking of upgrading our outward flight as its our 25th wedding anniversary trip and thought about treating ourselves. The question is, do we upgrade now or chance it until check in? What are the normal upgrade costs for doing it now or leaving it until the airport, and what are the chances of PE being full?

Depends on the fare class on your ticket you have purcahsed now as to whether it cam be upgraded or not, at check in is not always guarenteed

Have you enquired?
Read posts recently saying they have upgraded for £100 for both ways, others posting walk up price £249 one way.
Have you looked at your reservation online with VA? some get offered an upgrade price when they look.

My own views, I would rather upgrade coming home than going out, you are on a high anyway going out, coming home its a bit of something to look forward to end the trip, plus extra luggage allowance for anything you buy. I would not pay more than £50 each way for PE, more than that I would rather spend on something else, yes its better than economy but its not amazing, we enjoyed flying out in economy extra leg room seats as much as returning in PE last year.

Yes, if its too expensive then we'd prefer to spend the money on a nice meal and cirque du soleil. I will email the guy who booked our holiday and see what price he comes up with then consider chancing it to the last minute if its too much.

Last year to Orlando they wanted £295 each to upgrade on the way out, so we left it until we checked in but by then they were all gone. To Las Vegas in October they wanted £350 each on the way out but suggested we try the next day just prior to end of check in, so we did and they still wanted £250 each!!!!
If I had to choose then I would do the way out just because its a longer journey and there is no way I will sleep anyway if its enconomy or PE.... I am with Wayne on this one, its so not worth paying loads of money for, so what if you get real cutlery as opposed to metal, the food is still not wonderful!!!

I called VA last week to find out how much a PE upgrade would be and i was quoted £350 each inbound to MAN Its worth calling every few weeks, you never know.
For us, we are going to wait until we get to check-in and see whats available. Personally i would not be prepared to pay more than £250 for the four of us.
