Greta news for us UC and Gold card Virgin flyers, Finally! a revivals lounge we can use at Gatwick when returning from Orlando

"Upper Class customers and Flying Club Gold members can use the US Airways lounge at LGW when arriving on a VS flight.

There is a lift to the lounge immediately opposite the exit to the customs hall.

Facilities include showers, tea, coffee, juice, tv and a business centre."

Virgin don't have their own arrivals lounge at LGW? I thought that they did?

No the only Virgin revivals lounge is Heathrow.

This is on the way back into the UK mind you, separate from the departure Clubhouse

If you have paid for an UC ticket then as far as I know there is no age restriction, the age restriction is there if you pay for entry as you can with VH when travelling Econ or PE.

Is that true, I have paid UC but didnt think I could go there as my kids are 8 & 10? Thanks.

I can't see how they could stop you as you have paid for the ticket, thinking about it I am sure I saw some children maybe younger than 12 in the LHR Clubhouse last month.

Ah just remembered there was a little kiddie play area in one corner for ages 2-5 I guess so yes must be allowed.

I am going UP with Virgin in a couple a weeks I presume I cannot use it as my kids are under 12?

No, that's not totally right. Virgin are not like some of the other airlines, there is no age limit in the clubhouses they own. However if you are flying from manchester, Virgin do not have a clubhouse at MAN and the ones available (rather like Birmingham) do not allow children in under 12. total nonsesne.

Have they their own UC tickets? if so, they can take a guest in as well. All UC tix holders and Gold Card holders can take a guest into the Virgin clubhouse.

There is no age limit on the Delta crown Room at MCO on the way back either :thumbsup2

Yes.

Have only ever flown VS UC on Continental tickets (they codeshare and, in the past, Continental tickets on the same flight have always worked out cheaper than the Virgin tickets...). Continental tickets can use the VS Clubhouse at LGW on departure, but they have their own arrivals lounge (it is next door to the US Airways one I believe) - so we have always used CO's arrivals lounge.

I would guess that the US Airways arrivals lounge is similar to the CO one - fairly basic (showers, drinks, a few basic snacks and a very small seating area). BUT it is great to have a shower - and wake up - after a long flight (and with a reasonably substantial drive home afterwards...).

If you are a UC customer is everything free in there or is there a charge????

Lounge access - and all the food, drink, beauty treatments, showers etc. - whilst you are there are "included" (I wouldn't say they are "free" because, obviously, you pay for them in other ways.. ;) ).

Very true as access for the lounges through VH is £35 for the Gatwick Clubhouse and £65 for the Heathrow Clubhouse, but all food, drink and treatments are included in that :teeth:

If you 'pay' for lounge access via Virgin Holidays (as opposed to the 'free' access which comes with your full fare UC ticket), treatments aren't included, although I've never had any problems getting them. I guess it depends on how busy they are. Once you're in the lounge, they never ask to see your boarding pass, so, in theory, the beauty therapists would have no idea whether you were a bone-fide UC passenger or a hanger-on (;)), but my guess is that all the staff talk to one another and I'm sure they know precisedly who's who. We've never paid for an Upper Class ticket, but whenever we've paid for access to the lounge, or received free upgrades onboard, we've been treated respectfully. Likewise, we've always treated the staff with respect. I suspect if you start making demands, they might be less than accommodating. I know I would.

So to clarify.. Bit confused now.....

I have purchased a full fare UC ticket for me and my familiy through Virgin Holidays (not paid for the lounge pass) so everything is included, or do I pay an additional fee as Ibooked with VH not VA direct?

The food and drinks are included, and at Gatwick I understand you can see the runway where is the lounge exactly?

Thanks

Sorry, Andrew, I am probably overly complicating things. If you have a full UC ticket (regardless of who you booked with), everything is included. It's possible to book the lounge, through Virgin Holidays, as an extra, whichever class you are flying (and indeed, we have done so several times).

Once you are airside at Gatwick (i.e. have cleared security), you need to go to the upper shopping level and then head to the left-hand corner as you exit the escalator. The Clubhouse Lounge is along the corridor on your left-hand side.
