virgin seats

No way will I pay £150 extra for us to do this. We fly with them in July but would rather sit apart than pay.

Ditto.
I'm actually unsure as to what the reasons to fly Virgin are - they charge more and deliver less for the price :confused3

I have booked with them this time as they were by far the cheapest, couldn't get indirect anywhere near.
I found the price on Orbitz.com and paid in $'s. converted to £630pp, same flights booking direct with VA £830pp
I would rather have paid around £500pp indirect but the deals are not there this year in July from Manchester.

My thoughts entirely but when I dare to mention that "on the other" forum, I get shot down in flames every time! Far more hostile area lol

Don't see why, 15+ years ago they were the Premium carrier, these days they are average. apart from flying direct they offer nothing above any other airline.

Totally agree, although I must say they were very good when we had a 12 hour delay at MCO .... Can honestly say that's the only time they've stood out in the crowd.

We fly with them cause we have miles and they always come out cheaper for us. Especially in sale time. But as a carrier I do think they have gone down.

You will be able to check in 24 hours before and choose your seat.Apparently BA also do this :confused3

When you check in online 24 hrs before do you need to print anything off? We don't have a printer at home.

Hopefully everyone will refuse to pay the extra £50-*** thats what it boils down to, per person per holiday, and they'll scrap the idea! We don't have kids but I am a nervous (ie BAD flier) so like to sit with my husband. The idea of families being split up for refusing to be ripped off any further is disgusting!

Actually just realsied we booked 8/12/13 so should be ok but still full of righteous indignation (And potted dog sandwich, I'm reading this on my lunch break :surfweb:) on behalf of all you who WILL have to pay, especially those with kiddlewinks!

Virgin were about cheapest unless wanted to save £50-£100pp by going indirect but for us rather have less travel time for that and go direct.

Same with other trips in previous years.

I don't feel the service is much better than budget airlines I have travelled on short haul more recently.

For our next holiday we wound up flying Virgin, simply because they were (joint) cheapest. We actually chose them over BA (identical price) because we could select our seats for free. Since we have to trek to LGW rather than LHR (an extra 45-60 mins) AND now pay for seat selection, we will just travel with any of the dozens of carriers that don't charge and depart from a more convenient airport for us. We shall see what our experience is like, since it's been almost a decade since I travelled with Virgin...

We booked our Virgin economy flights in early February, flying 30th April Man-MCO and were told by Virgin we couldn't choose our seats until 1st April at a cost of £25 per seat etc. But using their calculator that disagreed and said we could choose our seats at 60 days for free.

So yesterday logged on and was relieved to find we could choose our seats, and so we are very happy. :cheer2:

Silly question.

Now they charge what if you don't get the seat your pre booked do you get your money back?

I'm sure a PP said a while back that it would be refunded... You would certainly hope so, anyway!

Sorry I did skim read all but probably just missed that. I think I would rather just take the chance at least one of us would be sat with DD if not. Feel sorry who would be sat with her lol.

We now need to choose our daughters seat. She is flying out 5 days after us. But cannot see the select your seat. We are on 61 days so tomorrow. :)

Our select seats button didn't appear until 60 days exactly, as I checked the night before just in case ;)

It should be there at 8am in the morning though if that's her 60 days :surfweb:

Good luck :)

Yep, that's because:
- You booked after 16th Dec
- You're flying MAN-MCO
- The flight is before 30th Jul
So you can reserve 60 days in advance free (as long as you do it before 31st May)... :confused3

I booked LHR-MIA before 16th Dec, I'm flying after 31st May, but less than 336 days after 1st April, which means I will be able to reserve seats free on 1st April...

I don't know who thought this stuff up!
