Please share my panic. So we fly with Virgin 12/3 from LGW. We had booked the later flight out 13:00 and they have now cancelled that flight and moved us to the earlier one. Annoying but not a huge problem. When we were on the later flight the config was for 747 so mum kindly paid for us to have extra legroom seats for Christmas present. We now have found out that the scheduled plane is an airbus 330-300. These extra legroom seats are in 2's 51-56 ACHK.

Problem is there is 3 of us me, DH & DS who is just 3. All Virgin say is they will allocate at airport and attempt to accommodate as close to each other. Yeah helpful.

I already requested bulkhead if available but I think looking at config there is only 1? So chances are slim.

I feel really mad I hate things being out of my control.

aww I know what you mean about not being in control.
Theres three of us too, so the 2-4-2 seating isnt ideal for us either.
Im sure they will do the best for you all to sit together, although be prepared that you may be split up.
fingers crossed for you, try not to worry.

Hope if we do get split I end up in first class :rotfl2:

The bulkhead seats may be given up to anyone requesting a skycot or who has a lap child under two - they automatically allocate those. Rest assured they will not let the three year old sit on their own...at worst and i know not what you want, but one adult will be split from the other two!

Can you imagine the horror on someone's face if they found they were sat next to a lonesome 3 year old ha ha ha

Your son will be sat with one of you, it just means you might not be sat together.. :-( . Have you thought about the twilight check in the night before so you will beat the rush? We are on the later flight in May but we are heading down the night before and staying in the premier inn at North Terminal with meet and great parking so we can check in the night before!

Hope you manage to sit together. I know if we were split and one was left to look after DD alone it would be me whilst DH sleeps soundly away.

On our way out we were sat aisle apart not bad but still would of meant I would have to of had DD alone. Luckily the other three seats next to us were empty so the three of us spread out over the four.

Hope you get something sorted. X

Yes for sure if will be me with him but we will alternate. I've also nominated DH to do the potty runs. More entertainment for those in line outside the toilet.

We've considered twilight check in before but not sure dragging entire luggage/hand luggage to airport would be more stressful. Also not sure how checking car seat would work, can you still drop next day?

Hmm good question I'm not sure! We found it incredibly stress free when we did it last year, it was quite chilled at the airport at that time (although we may have just caught it at a good time) contact virgin and ask them, you never know. That is why I chose the premier inn in the end as once we have checked in we are walking/monorail away from the hotel...

We're at Ramada, its further out but near car park which we drop off morning of flight. Nice hotel we stayed last year and worked well.

We fly PE which meant that until one of our flights in December when we had a refurb we had always sat in the bubble with DD which 2 2 across. Therefore I have always sat and looked after DD on my own. DH was either behind, in front or across the aisle.

It has always been fine :goodvibes

We had the same configuration with 5 of us. They put 4 of us in the middle and DH sat across the aisle. Believe me, he got the better deal ;)

I checked re twilight check in and you have to check everything in including car seat and buggies.

Im surprised at the buggies.
Usually youre given a large carrier style bag at the bording gate to put buggies in and they take them from you there before seating people.
perhaps they just need to enter it into the system and give you a label?
Its what they do with sons wheelchair too.

Hopefully others will be able to give you a more accurate answer. :thumbsup2

You can keep the buggy till the next day if you want to take it to gate but it needs to tagged at check in.

Yes you check everything in but you can keep the buggy with you up until the gate. They tag it and can give you a plastic bag for it for when you get to the gate the next day.

We always do twilight check in and do this, but we stay in walking distance to airport.

Interesting they were adamant that it was everything that had to be checked even asked about strollers not that we will be taking one this time. Maybe it's a case of who you speak with. We think we will probably take 2 car seats with us one to stay in car and one to check. We probably won't be bringing back the one we take anyway as it's a cheap one we got in Walmart on previous trip and DS almost of the age/size where we can go to next stage.

Think our flight is rammed as no economy seats left to purchase on virgin or Expedia. Joy. Never mind it's worth it to be back at happy place.

Yes everything does get checked in. But all they do with a pushchair is tag it and then you take it away with you until you get to the gate. This has been the case for my last 3 flights with our pushchair at twilight check in.
