Hi there,

It's been a couple of years since we flew with Virgin from Manchester, can someone tell me whether you can stop and start the films in your seat back tv, when you like?

No, you cannot.
(If it's not a rude question, why would you want to know this?)

Hi there,

Thanks for the prompt reply, we flew with US Airways last Oct and the service was excellent. One of the best things was the 4! seats I had to myself plus the excellent entertainment screen which you could stop and start any of the films/tv progs when you wanted, so in the middle of a meal you could stop, eat, then start again. Good for toilet breaks too.

What a great perk! Worth remembering!

Wow - that is excellent :teeth:

I believe lots of airlines have this system now but not VA as yet - at least not in Economy or PE. VA's in flight entertainment - one of the things they boast about - is a real bugbear as it fails so often. Several times we've had nothing the entire flight.

It does seem to be getting worse.

2 years ago the entertainment system had games that you could play but when they changed the planes that went and last year we just had the films.

Some Virgin planes have a similar system called V-Port. But the planes with this system are not used on the 'bucket n spade' Orlando routes :(

Virgin have 4 in-flight entertainment systems:

Arcadia

Odyssey

Nova

and

V-Port

You can see what each system others and what planes have them on the V-Flyer site:

V-FLYER

I've had virgin v-port on trips to other areas of the states and I agree its a very good system, still waiting for it to come in on Orlando flights.

The point is that it costs Millions of pounds to put the new IFE into current planes.

Since 9-11 no airline has that sort of change hanging around
As the planes get replaced with (In Virgins case) the Airbus, this will be fitted as standard.

Virgin like BA are a scheduled airline and their money comes from the buisness runs over the Atlantic/India/Far east, so they get first priority.

Remember some airlines are still running with aircraft uning a screen in the front of bulheads only still!

Stevie,

The US Flight is so good aint it, we were on last October too.

It's a great flight with good entertainment, only pity being it's not direct.

When we went with virgin half the tvs didn't work total waste of time.

Oh DeeDee, what a pessimist! an optimist would have said that half the TVs were working! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

You do know that you had to turn them on?? :teeth: :teeth:

When was this flight?

Of course i knew how to turn it on i am a woman not a MAN so don't be so rude.

Just a reminder to keep it polite please folks :)

I think you need to go back and read my post again and work out what the smilies are about Deedee

However, I would suggest that your comment that "Half the screens were not working" was an exageration on your behalf. 212 seats had no IFE???

sorry obi mine was supposed to be light hearted banter as well :thumbsup2
