Have just logged on to check my seat allocation etc. for my August flight and find that outgoing seats have been changed so that hubby is sat two rows behind us on his own. Has anyone else had this problem? Have been on hold for about 10 minutes now.

Yes Virign has done this to alot of people on here,me,hubby+our 2 girls are now seperated across an aisle seat.In some peoples cases,it is to do with people who had booked the sets of 2 seats at the back of the plane,so Virgin changed everyone around+blocked these seats. Why?because they are popular+have a tiny amount more space,Virgin are now going to charge people extra money at check in if they want them, just another way to get even more money from us.x.

Let us know how you get on,on the phone with them.x.

Where did you hear Virgin are going to charge for the seats at the back? that is one of the main reasons we book early with Virgin.
Virgin are getting less and less appealing all the time.

I just read on Vflyer about this, seems to be true :sad2: I've just checked my seats and I am still booked into these seats on our return journey in August tho :confused3

Jen is correct,i am sorry i don't know how to post links. It is on the V-flyer.x.

Not only have they changed our return seats but the one's they put us in were rubbish:mad: . The least they could have done is emailed me, if I had not read it in the board I probably wouldn’t have checked till just before the flight and there would have been no other seats available.

They're moving some of the seats around so that there will be seats available with more legroom for an extra charge (less than emergency exit though from what I gather).

It seems that some people have been moved as they were in rows that are now going to be these extra seat pitch rows (will be 34" rather than 31")...

They do hold a lot of seats back and release them for online check-in 24 hours before you depart, so if you're not happy with your new seats then there will be an opportunity to change them then so hopefully your whole family can get seats together

We had no problems getting seats together (4 of us) when checking in at the airport and at DTD check in.... don't worry - it's a holiday! When we booked we did it through a travel agent and didn't have the prebook option till all the seats had been prebooked by others anyhow (school holiday flight..)

They don't guarantee the pre allocated seats anyhow.... I wouldn't worry, just check in online or early...

With the greatest of respect Virgin are not obliged to inform you of seat changes

Seats pre booked are not guaranteed and can be changed at anytime by the airline

At the end of the day the flight is a means to get to your destination. Unless you are in UC or PE all seats in economy are ''rubbish''.

Why get upset about something so trivial.

If people are not happy with what Virgin are doing go somewhere else. Not exactly short of alternatives

Unfortunatley Virgin don't need to inform you of moving you about on there aircraft's.It is really down to you individually to check every day if need be-to see if there have been changes. This is how i found out.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Online check in is the best way to go-if available-as i know some people have tried and a message has come up that they are only doing this at the airport.
We have been split up before when we went in 2004 with our dd who was 3 at the time-and they placed her on a seat on her own 2 rows behind us,obviously Virgin would'nt let this happen+it was fine once we got to the airport-we were seated together.I to moan about Virign for little things, this being one of the them, but at the end of the day there's a whole lot worse out there, and if i felt that strongly about them then i would'nt have been flying with them for the last 18yrs.x.

We just have to remember the "olden" days when you got what you were given at the airport - can you remember being asked smoking & non smoking seats!

We take all these things - which are improvements - for granted now.

Pre booking is a little extra that if it comes off then all well and good but at the end of the day it is only a mode of transport to get you to the wonderful world of.....

That's rubbish for a start - there a quite a few econ seats that are far better than the rest, otherwise why would there be websites dedicated to seat reviews etc?
The 2X2 rows at the back have far more room and if you are seated in the first few rows or the back ones then you actually get a choice of meals and not just what's left.
Anyone who thinks that ALL econ seats are the same, is seriously deluded - otherwise why would VA have started blocking some out? The back rows will not be the extra legroom ones, but they are still being blocked out due to their popularity - if you want one you will have to be at the front of the queue at check in, as is the case for the little cabin behind PE and the exit seats.

Sorry but that was my opinion and believe me I have flown economy with Virgin for many years until I got fed up with the lack of space and went PE

The extra leg room seats are narrower than the normal economy seats - I know because I have sat in them plus you are usually near the toilet or better still the galley with the noise and constant traffic!!

In economy as soon as the person in front reclines their seat you have had it, especially if you are unlucky enough to have a very selfish person in that particular seat who only thinks of themselves

As for Virgin blocking seats out and offering them to passengers for a charge. It is called business and if people want to pay more and get very little for it then good luck to them, it is their money.

As I said it is my opinion

PS: I am flying in economy with Virgin at the beginning of September. Reason: £301 per seat. It is a means to get me to Orlando for a trip that was not planned for this year as we were out there in May but at that price

Yeah I am sure most other airlines let you pre book the "better" seats at the back - oh no wait ;)

Cant believe people are still getting upset about this - just do online checkin to get semi decent economy seats.

and just be thankful you arent flying US Airways - who are apparently removing all IFE to reduce fuel costs!!!

It is by no means the be all of my holiday. That has to be two full weeks off work and out of the country so they can't phone and ask be to come in
:worship: :worship: .
But i am one of these people who has to pee ALOT :confused3 and would feel very gulty about constenty climbing over a stranger at the end of a three seats. i feel much better now i've moved us to the four seat bit in the middle as i now only have to climb over my friend and she's my friend so will have to put up with me:rotfl: . But it was nice in the two seat row when we last went as we had a window seat too.
I'm sure people will not say that i can pay extra for that seat but at this moment and for the forceable future i'm SKINT.

I've seen quite a few posts (here and on other forums) with people stating their reasons for wanting the rows of 2 at the back.. Travel sickness etc. Be that as it may but it doesn't mean that they are more entitled to them than anyone else in economy :confused3 We were in a row of 2 last year and it was a nice perk but, honestly, if we'd been moved or couldn't get them I wouldn't have minded. If I cared that much about seat location, legroom etc I would fork out for PE.
Continental do the pre-requested seats thing aswell but I don't think any of their planes have the sets of 2 in economy, just the 3 + 3 configuration.

oH dear what a palarvar over seats. We are going with 4 friends this time and have booked as a group of seven.I have been lucky enough to get a 3 and 2x2 which I booked over the phone. The girl did not say anything about them being blocked or an extra supplement so I presume it is ok at the moment. We are not too fussed as long as I don't have to sit in the middle in a 4.Get really claustrophobic sat there. The last twice I have been could not do online check in for some reason.Did one way PE and to be honest would not pay all that extra money again. We sat in the back 2 rows upstairs and had an annoying man talking to the stewardess leaning on my seat plus there was no choice of meal so I had to have a kids meal.Yes you get extra room but we flew back economy and to be honest had no problems. As many have said as long as you get there and safely-enjoy:love: :cloud9:

Thanks for all the words of wisdom. Was on the phone for half an hour to some guy in India who didn't have a clue. He kept talking about seats that didn't exist! Honest! What a farce. Anyhow, basically he couldn't do anything so I have to wait until online check in.
