Hi everyone, this is my very first post!! :yay:

Has anyone had any experience of Virgin return transfers? We are booked to stay at Pop.

What happens when you arrive at MCO? How do you know when you will be picked up on the way back?

I'm a worrier, and I like to have as much knowledge as possible before going.

Thanks for reading (and hopefully your responses)

Hello!

Virgin transfers are very good, at MCO there will be Virgin holiday rep holding a sign, they will point you over to the Virgin desk where they will tell you which coach to get on and take your transfer voucher (the vouchers are sent with your tickets), you then go outside and to your right will be some coaches with people standing by, go to the one they said and thats it! Its very easy and they guide you step by step so no need to worry. They give you details of what time you will be picked up for the return flight, if you decide to do DTD check in then you just phone Mears 2 days before (they give you the number) and tell them and then they pick you up from there a bit later as you have already got rid of your bags.

Thanks, that a lot clearer.

Does anyone know if you also get your Disney tickets through with your flight tickets etc.? We also booked them through Virgin.

We don't want to go to a reps meeting as we're only going for a week and don't want to waste time!

When we went last time we got our park tickets through Virgin. When our tickets and stuff arrived we had a voucher for our park tickets which we just had to take to a little ticket booth thing and exchange it for the actual park tickets. Cant remember if it says you need it but I took ID for the 3 of us to the desk with me. Hope that helps.

Many thanks. Just what I needed to know.

Trying to e-mail Virgin reservations is hopeless. You have to wait ages for any kind of answer. I'm so glad I found this forum.

Can't wait to get there. I think I'm more excited than the kids.

Just to throw a spanner into the works, as you are staying onsite and flying into MCo, why dont you use the Magical express service run by disney(its free), you call disney direct, all they require is names and flight numbers. Its a lovely disney bus, that really puts you in the disney mood, and drops people off at your hotel not 101 stops before they get to yours.
On the way back you can check your luggage in at Downtown Disney, and have the rest of the day free, no worryingn about getting to the airport, disney will notify you what time you will be picked up from the resort, usually 4 hours before the flight, so you can plan your day, and with no luggage you just jump on and then when you arrive at the airport you can have a lazy walk around without having to queue to checkin.

With your passes, unfortunetly you problay paid over the odds for them booking them direct with disney, you will be given vouchers which you have to exchange for real tickets at guest services.
No ID is needed

Welcome to the DIS, Marple. Hope you find the answers to all your questions - great to have you here!

The only thing with the Magical Express is that it can take hours to get your suitcases, Ive read quite a few reports of people saying that they had to wait 4-6+ hours to get their stuff which would be ok if you arrived in the morning and were off to the parks but when you arrive at night you may just want to unpack and go to bed.

With your Disney tickets when you check into Pop ask them to put them on your room key, this way you only have to carry your room card and you don't have to exchange at the park gates. :goodvibes

We're not using the Magical Express, and that's one reason, the other is I can't be bothered! We're on the later flight as it is, so we want our stuff with us so we can unpack straight away, have something to eat and sleep, seeing as by the time we arrive, even with no delays, we will have been up for nearly 24hrs straight. I usually get a few hours on the plane, but my mum and sister don't.

The other thing is, the very first trip we had, we went on a coach that went around the houses, then the second time, we had a small van that took us and few other families to a select few hotels. Then last year was just the best! We arrived and directed to our transport, which turned out to be a very, very posh car (bordering on limo-style!) that was just for us and took us directly to our hotel! Yay. Okay, so staying on-site I'm sure there will be more going in our direction this time, but we can live in hope.

We also prefer the return transfer from DTD with Mears. It was a bit inconvient last year because it can take over an hour to get to a park from DTD by the time you've waited for a bus. And then you have to allow time back. Plus, last time I left my purse in the locker at DTD, although thought I'd lost it at AK (another story!). But this year, DTD pick-up will suit our last day plans just perfecting - Typhoon Lagoon to wear off last bits of energy, pig out at Planet Hollywood, then transfer to the airport and fully stuffed and completely exhausted, sleep all the way to the UK, rather than dosing for 20/30mins at a time. I lost count how many time I watched the same bits of Curious George!!!! :rotfl:
