OMG leaving tomorrow tried to book in online and it wnt accept a family of 5!! Phoned the call centre spoke to someone who english is not his 1st language and been told there is nothing they can do for my family try tomorrow at airport!!!

OMG, why is there system crap and BA's is amzing never any problems and a uk call centre!!!!

Total bad mood! not excited just fed up!

Well,
if you are on the VS27 then the seat map is showing totally full, so they would need to manually sort seats out to sit five of you as close as possible

If you are on the VS15 there is one seat only available so the same thing applies.

If one of your five does not have a seat, i.e an infant then you cannot book in online (How do you book in someone to a seat when they don't have one)

on the vs27 had our pre assigned seats since Sept last year, all the kids have seats, and the system says you can book in up to a party of 9 but for what ever reason it won't allow it, Call centre just not bothered at all usual stuff nothing thay can do got to the airport! Ba are just far better shouldn't have tried to save some money!

Again, the same thing applies.
Due to how full the flight is, then seats may have to be moved around. Pre assigned always is possibly subject to change.
I would ring up the call centre again. Because you have had one poor service agent does not mean they all will be.
Give them another try, but looking at the seat map its a very full flight and could be that checkin at airport is the only option available regardless of how many in the party.
Are all five of you on the same booking? did you add anyone afterwards?
Do they all have the same surname?

With BA you can only choose a seat 48 hours beforehand now.

Not sure how BA are far better as they are very similar in terms of service, or is it just you don't like foreign call centres?

we were told for months we could not use online check in as we had more than 4 flights booked with them, logged in the night before had was able to check in was not happy as I could have done it earlier if i had known

I would call them again and maybe you will get a more helpful agent

We looked at booking with virgin but they did not offer flights from glasgow at the time we wanted to go. We are booked with BA and we have never had any problems with them.

Heads up to anyone booked with BA its at time of booking they will allocate seats to people with infants. 3 days before for people with kids aged 2-11 and spcialised groups (schools, teams etc) and for everyone else it 24 hours. We have always been pleased with their service.

To the op sorry you are having a bad time with Virgin hope you can get it sorted out :goodvibes

I have had experiences of some very rude people from BA - not to mention numerous cases of "we have no idea where you luggage is" (The wonderful heathrow T5 drama!).

But these things happen. You have probably just got through to an unhelpful agent in Virgins call centre. I would call again and ask to be put through to someone in the UK. Even if they cannot help you they will atleast be able to explain.

Little confused here.
BA do not fly direct from glasgow to Orlando?
They fly down to Heathrow then you have to get to Gatwick to catch the flight to orlando from there

Virgin offer some flights from Glasgow to Orlando, but you would be able to fly down to gatwick on the same BA flights with the same changes

I'm sorry you are having problems checkin in online, however I don't think you can judge them as rubbish from just that! I have flown with them lots of times, we have always been able to request our seats beforehand and we have always got those seats. I think Virgin overall offer a good service, with BA you can't pre request your seats and when I have flown with them it has never been quite as good as with Virgin.

I agree with Jen, we have flown Virgin many times and will continue to do so, they have always looked after the needs of our son too.

I do have minor gripes with them, call centre's are common these days not just with Virgin but the standard of customer service has dropped since these were introduced.
They have mixed up our seating requests too when apparently saying we had requsted Premium Economy bulkhead seats with Joshua's special needs in mind - which just is not true - we had seats 'booked' in the bubble.

We have also been trying to get Joshua's air miles onto his account for the past few weeks doing everything we are supposed to do to no avail as yet. It's like there is no deviation from the set things you are supposed to do, kind of like talking to a robot repeating itself all the time, when what you are 'supposed' to do does not work there is no plan B.
I think it also took me 4 times to get a correct invoice for our last holiday - how hard can that be?

These gripes are kind of cosmetic and wouldn't stop us booking with them again, but some times you do get frustrated with these minor issues.

They fly direct from Manchester and overall we have no problems continuing to use them.

I have always found VA fine. We have had a few minor issues over the years but generally they are really helpful. We used BA a few weeks ago for the first time in 10 years and they were just OK, we booked VA for our next trip :)

It's like everything with big companies, everything is fine until you encounter a problem, then you are deviating from the script.

Sorry should have said we are going from Aberdeen, going from Galsgow would have been an option if there were direct flights at the time we wanted to go in aug but Virgin don't offer the flights from Glasgow apart from peak times of the year. So we are going Aberdeen to Heathrow and then Transfering to Gatwick (Have got about 5 hours between just to make sure we get there)for Direct flight to MCO.

Ah OK.

We fly from Gatwick also, but what we do is go down the night before and stay onsite.

Have you thought about doing that? takes out the worry of missing the Orlando flight, or what about Manchester?

Yes we thought about that but it all adds up to extra costs and Aberdeen is our local airport. As I said in my PP we have 5 hours between the flights so we should be fine.
