We leave in 4 days, and considering PE on our way home.
should we call now and book it or wait till we checkin at DTD.
DW is not that fussed so if we wait and they are not available its no big deal.
If you booked with Virgin Holidays it may be cheaper to book it now before you go.
When we travelled home in December the offer with Virgin Holidays had been £175 per adult and £135 per child to upgrade but when we enquired at the airport it was going to be £250 each - needless to say we didn't bother.
Perhaps it might be worth a call to Gatwick to see what they are charging there (rather than an Indian call centre). It will give you some idea anyway.

It is UNLIKELY that you will get a good day just 4 days away. Prices for airfares TEND to only get higher close to departure - especially within a week of departure, since most people travelling at short nottice are travelling on business and businesses will pay full economy fares (£1000/£1500 per person). That doesn't mean that there wont be a good deal available, just very unlikely.
The cost of upgrade from economy to PE is LIKELY to be in the region of £200/£250 per person ONE WAY if done at check-in. PE is pretty popular on the MCO route, so might be a bit of a lottery for you to get the seats at check-in...
It wont hurt to call and ask for a quote, however, so why not do that anyway?
I doubt very much I will be upgrading, even if its only £100 return, I sleep perfectly well for over 7 hours in economy. I struggled to stay awake for food at Easter, more or less slept from boarding to getting off.
