Virgin pre-seating change

I am probably not the best person to discuss renting with as I have never done it. However I will be glad to answer any questions on DVC that you have, pm away )

Kazzie,

I was told that to begin with, I then told her others from the Dis board had managed to book, she said let me try to open it! Hey Presto and Mickey magic she did it!

I am sorry I did not get her name, I did not ring the seating number, I rang reservations.

Lynda

Thanks Lynda:(

I can't face trying again now,I'm giving up until tomorrow:earseek:

BTW,Can you tell me what number reservations is please??

Just got off the phone with Virgin (very nice lady) who confirmed that yes the booking is being changed from 180 days to 11 months in advance BUT this will not be coming into force until Monday 12th April. She did acknowledge that some people 'had slipped through the system' and managed to prebook their seats before Monday 12th, but everything is being updated for Monday 12th and this is the official start date, so can I please call back then. Don't wish to be a scare monger but she did say that if you have managed to book your seats now (i.e. in the new 11 month timescale), there is a possibility that it may be over-rided by the updating of the system prior to the official start date of Monday 12th April.

hi:wave:
am i right in thinking that seats 61-64 are the better one's

thanks eve::MinnieMo

I was wondering about those seats too 61 - 64 as I would like 2 lots of 2 seats to keep my children apart!

will it be OK to travel at the back of the plane?

Hi,
Yes we always try to get these seats at the back of the plane because it gives 1 of you a bit more leg room, at the side tho so not as good as you might imagine
the downside is that you have to board first which means a long wait for everyone else to get on and off.
The seats are near the rear toilets so can get smelly towards the end of the flight and the rear of the plane moves more than the rest if you hit a bit of turbulance
The plus side of the seats is that you can get up and stretch your legs without bothering anyone else
Horses for courses as the saying goes but must admit they wouldn't be my first choice if I had children with me.
Personally I would want to sit as far forward as possible cos the ride there is more stable and you get to immigration before the queue's really build up.

hi:wave:
i have just got off the phone with virgin and have booked our seats for our flight in october we have got 62 a c d and e and my cousin who is traveling with us phoned and got seats 62 f,g,h and k so we can sit together hopefully now they won't change the plane:D
i originally wanted 2 rows of 2 but was told by virgin that you can only have 1 window seat per family which is fair i suppose::yes::

Because of the new posts saying more people have booked, I gave in and called again today :earseek:

I wish I hadn't! I spoke to a very stroppy young lady called Karen who told me I COULDN'T book, she had heard NOTHING about this new policy and I had made a MISTAKE:mad:

Why are they making such a pigs ear of this?? I think the ones who say they know nothing of it are lying.I wouldn't mind if they said the change is tomorrow please call back, it's that they say they have never heard of such a thing!

SO I will call back tomorrow when apparantly EVERYONE at Virgin will miracuosly have heard about these new rules :( :o

Oh Kazzie, I cannot believe the bad luck you are having with this!!

I have been following this thread with interest. As you can see my 180 day window is actually tomorrow (Easter Monday) and I will pre-book then. I didnt want to pre-book earlier, in case everything does get wiped out when the system comes into effect tomorrow.

But I wont be happy if I dont get the seats I want, after waiting for my 180 days!!

Good Luck tomorrow Kaz. Let me know how you get on.

Im gonna phone them as soon as I awake!!!

Lorraine

Lorraine,

I've got to laugh! The girl was so nasty this morning that it wasn't until I rushed out and was in the car I realsed how stroppity she was;) If I had been at home I would have called back, asked to speak to her and said something like 'Do yourself a favour and ask your supervisor who might have more idea than you do about your job!'

If it wasn't that I have a DS with special needs and we find it very helpful to sit in a certain place.....I'd give up!

Let me know how you get on tomorrow and I'll do the same!:hyper:

Mountains of Pixie Dust for you tomorrow morning Karen. I can't believe that something that should be so simple turns out to be so complicated.

Perhaps the other Karen really didn't want to be at work today. No excuse though.

I think I will call tomorrow as well just to make sure that my seats are really booked (even though I checked twice on Friday)

Maryx

hi karen:wave:
i do hope that you get the seats you want tommorow::yes:: why is it that some staff can't even be botherd to say that it can't be done(even though it obviously can)in a nice tone of voice istead of being nasty:rolleyes:
anyway good luck for tommorrow lets us know how you got on

eve:D

I too have been watching various threads with regard to the 11 months for pre booking seats with Virgin. I have heard on both sites that I use that it is starting official from Monday 12 April, so am waiting for tomorrow morning.

Just a quick query though, we haven't gone the usual route of booking a package with Virgin this time. We have booked our flights for a Virgin Flight but actually booked the flights through American Airlines as it was £100 cheaper than the Virgin website.

When we booked and pay for the flights we used my dad's credit card. Now when we go to pre book the seats tomorrow do I give our names to pre book the seats as we are the passengers or do I give my dad's surname as he has paid for them and the tickets are being sent to his address?? Very confusing i know!!!

hi lisa:wave:
when i phoned today they just asked for the date we were going and my name so i would imagine it would be the name of the passengers
i have been reading various threads regarding the start date of this::yes:: i did however decide to give it a try today and got the seats that we wanted altough i might still ring again in the morning to double check they have been booked

eve::MinnieMo

To Kazzie & Co!

My 180 day window opened up today. And I have booked the seats I wanted.

But nothing was mentioned about being able to pre-book 11 months in advance. I asked if I could pre-book my return flight and she said no, I would have to call back on 29th April!!

So I have no idea whether you can "officially" book in advance or not!!

Another query though - I know our seats arent guaranteed and wont be confirmed until check-in. If we did Virgin's Twilight Check-In, will they issue our seat numbers the night before, or will we still have to be at Gatwick 4 hours before on the morning of the flight to know our exact seats?

Kazzie - hope you got on ok today - let us know!!!

Thanks all,

Lorraine.

Hi,

I finally booked my seats for this October AND February! Ohh what a fuss I made in all my posts!;)

It does seem as if some agents genuinely don't know there is a system change re. booking seats more than 180 days out:crazy:

Lorraine if you do Twilight check-in you are given your boarding cards and definitely will have the seats allocated to you at check-in,as far as I know it cannot be changed after you have the boarding cards.

Lorraine,If you want the name of the Virgin girl that booked me and knows what she's doing PM me:teeth:

I think WE ARE ALL suffering from that lesser known condition OCDPD (Obsessive Compulsive Disney Planning Disorder) where attention to even the smallest little detail is vitally important to ensure we all have a good time!!!

DH thinks I should get out more. He just doen't understand that its beyond my control. lol
