Virgin, possible merger or tie up.

An airline is not a cheap thing to run so I'm not surprised.

Wow I didn't realise that they had made such a huge loss last year.

Interesting stuff, thanks for posting Wayne. :goodvibes

Lost £132million last year. Just been on Sky news, they are valueing it at £1billion. If Delta will pay that I guess RB will take it, he doesn't like losing money:goodvibes

Partly due to us flying with Delta more:rotfl:

Outpriced themselves for us, they do not offer a product worth what they ask IMO. Previous years we have used then a lot with lower prices. They need to decide if they are a Premium airline, charge higher prices but vastly improve their service or stay with their current standards and sell cheaper. While they sell an inferior service at high prices I think they will make a loss.

Just my opinion on them, I know others love Virgin.

I agree. I used to love Virgin when i first started flying with them (around 1998 i think my first flight was) but over the years their prices have gone up and the service gone down. I have continued to fly with them purely based on the fact that i have so many miles with them i have always got a m+m fare and that usually makes them the cheapest.

Ive never flew with them as I always found them to be so expensive. I generally used FGS as they were so cheap and I didnt need to go for the standard 14 nights. Will be using them next year thanks to wayne for given the nod on great prices using m+m. Like others have said didnt realise that they lost so much money last year.

I have had a good decade of VA flights, but latterly, as Wayne said, standards have slipped dramatically. I still stuck with them however as their customer care is so good. But it's the little things that count and too a few issues with food, old shabby looking cabins etc started to become impossible to ignore. The final straw for me was issues with special dietary meals on the last two trips and also last year's PE flight where the PE cabin was so desperate for TLC that I begrudged the extra money spent on it.

Wayne, you're right on the money: they need to charge more and offer more, or operate as a no-frills type airline.

There are deals to be had, but without M&M they rarely come up with the best deals now.
