Can anyone help me re: Virgin Flying Club Points?

We're planning to return to WDW next year. I'm thinking about booking things individually rather than a package if my points will save me something on flights.

Becuase of booking and travelling on Upper Class this year, I have 11,000 points on my flying club account. Is this worth anything???? Can I use it to help pay for flights next year and if so, how much would this get me?

Thanks for your help.

you will only be able to do miles and money flights so 2000 miles for economy, 7500 miles for premuim and 15000 miles for upper class. you then have to pay the cheaper fare

You cant pay miles and then money other than the miles and money amounts

to get a round trip flight using only miles and paying the taxes is around 50000 miles each

If you go on the virgin atlantic website, you can choose, miles and money and spend miles, just do a few dummy runs for the dates you want to see if they apply for your dates. you probably will find that every date isnt available only a selected few-if your lucky!
I have 67000 miles and am finding it hard to spend them..

log onto virgin-altantic.com and go to the flying club section and it will give you all the answers to your questions about what and how you can spend your points.

Miles are good to have but on the Orlando/Caribbean routes they are very difficult to spend for PE and UC due to the lower number of seats in these classes compared to the Heathrow config aircraft.

We generally buy PE tickets and then upgrade to UC using our miles - 20,000 per person if available, or use miles + money, although that option only saves you about 15% off the ticket cost in my experience.

Our UC tickets this year 2 are with miles and money, 2 are mileage upgrades from PE to UC.

The OH has over 200,000 miles on his card and I've got another 70,000 and its hard to spend them using the routes we do! And now with the gold cards we get the kids miles added on (never happened before if they were under 12) and to be honest I cant see us ever using all the miles.

Also M + M can be not much of a bargain, with the amount you get off for the points being poor.

I estimate we have saved around £5,000 using miles mainly over a 2 year period upto August 08, since then the offers have been non existant for our dates, back to indirect for us. We still have almost 200,000 miles so always looking.
Logging into your account and doing dummy bookings is best way to see whats available. Also look at any special offers they are running for using miles.

I know only certain tickets can be upgraded using miles. Can anyone tell me what class these need to be?

Sorry to kinda hijack thread a wee bit, did a dummy booking for next may using miles and money and got a really good price ( i think ) of just over £1,100 for 2 adults and a child ( age 11) from manchester to mco, we are not planning on going till 25th june can anyone speculate how much the price will prob. go up for june flights, need to wait another 6 weeks or so before they show.Thanx again.:cool2:
