Hi,

tried to book our seats using the manage your flights, but for some reason it is not us do it.

It used to be that you could book a while in advance. We go in 9 weeks, and was wanting to get our seats together.

Has things changed.
 
What info are you inputting?

If its not letting you pre book I can inly assume that the portion of seats that are allowed to be prebooked are already used up, this doesn't mean you can't get them together, if you can do twilight it may help.
 
we phoned to reserve our places as we couldnt get the on line system to work either. Also booked kids meals and found they were really helpful, but the woman on the end of the phone was a bit of a novice she sorted us out eventually :rolleyes:
phone, they know better than us how to work the system, and they advised us on which seats to take (my kids are SEN)

It depends which airport, we are flying from Manchester and they dont do twilight..

Following on from what Carol said can you get your reservation up for meal requests etc? Or do you not even get that far?

Will not accept our ref number, i persume that is the problem, all the other details are coorect.

I want to DD meal also, and ensure we sit together, as i know who will end up with "ARE WE THERE YET!!!!!" :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
 
Call virgin and ask them for your airline locater rather than your holiday invoice number, it'll probably work better
 
Yes as Carol says call VA and get them to give you your locator number then you can access the system when ever you want.

Have rang the reservations number, and just repeats the automated message about booking online.

Am i ringing the correct number, or can someone help me with the number.
 
Thanks, for the link, unfortunately, it will not let me in either as we booked via a travel agent.

Hopefully this is not the problem, we booked our seats last year, and we always book via agents.

Mind you next year we will by past the agent, we £1800 for a fly drive, economy seats without car insurance and just priced a flight only with economy one way and PE back and the price £2000.
 
Or try 0871 231 0231 which is for special requests but sure thery could help if you are having problems.

Booking through an agent should not make a difference as the VH invoice will still be forwarded to you.

Just had a thought that the only ref numbers the VA system will acceot are their own or those of VH if you didn't book with either, ie went through say Jetlife, as the operator then it won't work.

This is how I got it to work.

Go to 'manage your flights' then 'update booking'.
Enter your booking reference (travel invoice) number which is a 5 digit number plus /S06.
Enter the first and surname of the person who made the booking, the flight number (ie VSO15) and the date of travel then click on retrieve booking.
If it accepts all that you are through to the section where you can edit your booking and look at the seat map. It will show an outline of the plane and if you hold your cursor over a seat it will say whether it is available for not. If it is you can enter the passenger details and seat number on the right hand side and then confirm it.

Before you reserve a seat look at vflyer.com or seatguru.com for tips on which seats are better than others and which to avoid!

It may not work if you have not booked through Virgin because I assume the system only accepts their own references and not those of other agencies.

I reserved my mums seats online for her recent trip and it was all on the system ready for her when she checked in at Gatwick so it does work sometimes!!

We have booked with Virgin Holidays via travel agent so should not be a problem, i have done all the steps, just not letting me through.

My only thought is that the final balance date it is not due until next week. (i paid it begining feb).

So maybe the travel agent have not handed the money over yet.
 
I know it sounds silly Princess, but I think when I booked with VH I had to use a different reference via VA to book my flights??

I dont believe the money should make any difference. I've booked seats very early in the past, long before the money was even requested let alone due.

As others have said - call Virgin customer services and ask them to help.
