Hi, I am flying with Virgin in September from Manchester, If we use online check in where do we check in our luggage? and what time can you check in your luggage from.

I am trying to work out what time we need to be at the Airport as the queues for security in March at T2 were over an hour long, and I would like to get through departures an hour before boarding. One of the security people said the queues were like that till 10am every morning.

I haven't used Manchester for a long long time, but if its the same as Gatwick, you can either check your luggage at the Virgin Bag drop desk wich should be matked, or even use a normal desk is no queue.
For bag drop, ask one of the gate security people.
I would image they will open bag drop at 7am? Can a MAN user confirm?

We used it at Easter, Man Airport, online check in and printed own board sheets. Although they tore up the sheets and printed cards as they were having difficulties with the machine that read own printed sheets.
Bag drop was inbetween PE and Economy. Took about 10mins from getting there to going thru to the gate, the line for security was backed up to the door but kept moveing and only another 5-7 mins and we were thru to the departure lounge.
It was very very busy Easter Saturday, we got there about 2 and half hours to take off and we were sat about forever, could have left it another hour no problem, but then you don't know what the traffic is going to be like to get there.
Regular line I would say was about 30-45 mins so saves lots of time.
Coming back is even better if you can checkin online. We did it but called at DTD to get rid of bags line was crazy so we kept them and went to bag drop at airport, again regular line was about 45 mins-1 hour long. bag drop was 5 mins.

.

It seems the queues were a lot better for you, when we were last at T2 the queues went right to the toilets and they had queueing barriers set up like at Disney. we got at the airport at 7.10am and got through to the departures lounge at 8.30am. we only live 10minutes from Manchester Airport so it is not really a problem getting to the Airport. It is a shame they don't do twilight check in, it would be very useful for us.
