Hi , I can most definately say no this does not guarantee your seats.
My husband did this nearly a year ago for our trip this may at the time of booking the plane had a lot of spaces so we chose our seating arrangements and printed it all out no problem, the other day hubbie just out
of interest went online to check everything when he noticed that our inward bound plane had been changed, we phoned Virgin and asked them what was happening and if our flight times had been changed etc, and unfortunately we managed to get a very abrupt unhelpfull person on the other end (I have to say up till then they have been brilliant.
Anyway all our seats had been changed and we had been split up.
We weren't happy as if my hubbie hadn't had stumbled accross this , would they have finally decided to contact us about it, We do understand that things change, but when you have booked so far in advance you hope that by doing so you have the better chioce
The guy on the line basically said tuff, the computers had gone down when they changed the flight and all the allocations were lost

yeah right, surely a company as big a Virgin has the I.T equipment to keep all the details for the booked flight seating arrangements as you have to give all this when you do it.
All they would have had to do was to put everyone back into there original seats.
Im really sorry to go on Im just mad at the moment, I know it's not the end of the world, but I think Im more mad at their attitude
Anyway dont bank on getting those seats, Good luck
