Virgin onboard refreshments

Do you get free drinks when travelling economy class with Virgin? If you do can you have anything eg water or coke instead of beer, wine or spirits? Do you get anything else included (except for meals)

Yes soft and alcoholic drinks are free, plus after the main emal they often come round with either an icecream or some sort of frozen treat. During the flight they often come round with water or fruit juice as well, of course you can alos ask for it at anytime you wish outside of normal meal hours.

Additionally we also had sandwich and muffin on the way out and then fruit and something on the return. Also we went to the galley to get soft drinks that had been left out & on one flight there was even a tray of what looked like quality street

On our Virgin flight in January this year after I had dozed a wee bit in my seat, I felt like a cup of tea, so I just went to the galley bit and asked for one. The stewardess promptly made me a lovely cup of tea and said just to ask for another one whenever I wanted it. Drinks are freely available all through the flight. Have a lovely time

That is a good idea!! When we flew last time (for the first time with virgin)
i knew we got drinks, but didnt know whether you had to wait for them to be brought round, didnt want to 'buzz'' for stewardess cos they were really busy, so we ended up not having any drinks!!! Now i know i will just go get them myself - thanks

After going with virgin for a number of years they get the thumbs up from us. Once you have taken off they come round with pretzels and a drink, next comes your main meal with wine or soft drink. Tea and coffee comes at the end of your meal. Then you get an ice cream for the movies followed by a light snack about 1 1/2 before you land. In my opinion they do not come round often enough with the drinks trolley it is mostly water or fruit juice. If you want anything else you only need to ask and they are more than happy to oblige.

The last twice we have flown with VA they have not given out ice creams, but replaced them with a chocolate bar - the last thing you want on a flight I think.

The availability of ice creams or not can vary day-by-day.

There are no freezers on any of the aircraft and ice creams are loaded packed in dry ice. A lack of dry ice will mean that ice creams are not loaded and chocolate is issued instead.

Catering is out-sourced, so VA have no immediate and direct control over the avilability of dry ice.
