Hi all

I trust you are all enjoying the world cup and looking forward to us once again being world champions, this is not the main reason for my post.

I have just spoken to Virgin hols, on the telephone. I rang up to get a price for next summer, July 2007 for 2 adults, 3 kids stayin on site, at the cheapest hotel that could accomodate us all. The kids will be 10, 8 and 3, so I know I could be a little limited for choice.

Anyway, the first person I spoke to, told me that NO Disney hotel at all took 2 adults and 3 children, the best was to 2 adults, 2 kids and 1 under 3. Odd, I said, as about 4 days ago, I got a full price , inc tickets (of 5500.00) to stay at Coronado Springs, and also saying that the brochure for next year, which I grant you does only go to April 07, also said a number of Dis hotels catered for 5 persons, 2 adults and 3 kids.

She informs me that the brochure was completely wrong and the upshot was, that no one with a party size of 2 adults and 3 kids (all over 2) could stay in one room at Disney (other than the cabins)

Ok, thanks and I left it at that. Certain that I had seen this as available, and also having the persistance (and spelling lol) of a rotwieler (SP?) I rang the same number again. Explained the 2 adults 3 kids, ages hotel, blah blah blah. Yes she said, it will be port orleans or coronado or even a couple more, Port Orleans 12 july 2007 21 nights flying from Manc (boooo Up the Pool) 4250.00 (no tickets, not a prob) I then asked if it was cheaper on line and she told me I couldnt book on line because of the number of kids over 2, so she gave me the online price. 4051.75. Brilliant, just check with the good lady when she gets back from shipping replacement eyes round the uk (funny story there, new job) and we should book it.

I am sure that Virgin would be disaapointed to hear that their staff do not all have the same level of knowledge.

For those of you still awake and not draping a rope over a beam, the moral is, "never give up"

ENGERLLAANNNNDDDDD!!!

Well done Steve - glad you managed to get it booked. I understand the hassle associated with having 3 kids and trying to find a room to accommodate you all. I don't know if you're aware but one of the value resorts is now offering suites (sorry, can't remember which) - not sure if Virgin offer or are able to book them but it may be worth bearing in mind for future bookings :)

thanks for the replies guys. I am going to book it today, wife is waiting for hols clearance at work and i wil book. I will check the all stars, is this the value resort with the suites? I would stay there if it drops the price a bit more.

Thanks have a fun weekend

Steve

Yes, it is All Star Music resort that has the new suites, check out the info here.

Have you thought about pricing the flight and accommodation separately? You may find there's little difference, but it could be worth investigating as the prices for the suite would be per suite, whereas a package with Virgin will be per person. However, with children's prices, you may be getting a better deal with a package.

Hi Hilary

I must admit I have looked at booking the thing seperately, but I can never seem to get it anywhere near the package price. The flights alone seem to come out at about 3000.00. Plus the other thing that puzzles me is that on the Disney site, last time I looked you could only book upto 8 days stay.

I will have a look at flights and see what happens. But I have aprice of 4051.00 for 3 weeks at riverside flying from Manc, staying at PO Riverside. I think thats pretty good to be honest, TCD best price was 5060.00.

Cheers

Steve

Just got back from CSR (brilliant resort) and the rooms could easily sleep 5. We had 2 queen size beds and a fold - away bed (about $17 per night but well worth it) for the 3 of us. A bed each and my youngest daughter loved the fold-away! Good luck with your booking :thumbsup2

I had to alter my holiday during the week and it took me an hour - the girl said that the HRH rooms didn't sleep 3, funny i said cause we have been going there for the last 4 years and always had 3 in a room!! :confused3

There doesn't seem to be a hard and fast rule on this - sometimes a package can work out a lot cheaper, sometimes a lot more expensive. I think the child prices can make a big difference :)

Good luck with the booking! :thumbsup2
