Has anyone tried this one?

When you got to the airport did it really make life as stress free as it sounds?

Did you acually get the seats you'd pre-booked and/or checked in on line for? (if you see what I mean?)

How does it rate against twilight check in.

Any info greatfully received.

Hi Cheryl,

We did online check in in July last year and it worked a treat. Took a few minutes to log all the details day before but once you get to check in you just have your passport and tickets looked at and you join a separate queue. We were through in about 10 minutes. We have only flwon from Manchester so have yet to experience the delights of twilight.

Hope this helps.

hiya

we used the online checking in november and it worked very well, it didnt take over five minutes when we got to the airport,

definatly worth doing

I'm interested in this one as we've just flew KLM and although we reserved seats when I came to do on-line check-in I couldn't get the seats I reserved.

Mind you Virgin are way better than KLM IMHO.

Can anyone say if they have got the seats they pre-booked when doing on-line check-in.

I shall report back imminently, as I am flying out on Wednesday!

Hi All,

Forgot to mention yesterday that we were allocated the seats we had pre-booked (when we booked the flights). There was the opportunity to change the seats when you book in online (but there wasnt much choice left - and we were happy with what we had).

Coming back we checked in at DTD and were allocated seats together (5 of us) even thought we hadnt pre-booked.

Will be flying Virgin from Manchester in October with family which will include 2 toddlers and 3-ish month old baby. As people with children know avoidance of hassle/upset is paramount and I wonder if the "on-line" check in will ease that it anyway. Help in ubderstanding the procedure at the airport if I use the "on-line" check in will be greatly appreciated. For example can I get rid of all the luggage without all the party being there (kids) I know they will need to be there for security later on.
Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

Hi there,

I think (not sure) that all members need to be present, they check your passports and tickets when you put your luggage through. We were all together anyway so I didnt question it.

Sorry i cant be of more help (you would think we travelled 5 years ago not 5 months!)

I have learned (either from these boards or V-Flyer) that only a proportion of the seats on the aircraft are available for pre-booking, with the remainder "opening up" at check-in.

When we used Twilight Check-in in December, the seats we had pre-booked weren't available and it wasn't that easy for the check-in clerk to allocate seats together for our party of four.

Now, given that only those checking-in online and those arriving prior to us at Twilight check-in would have been ahead of us, I wonder whether the general seat allocation is not released until the morning of the flight.

Hi again! Flight was good, online check-in worked well (and I did get the seat I had pre-allocated, although, as it was only me travelling, that perhaps wasn't too much of a surprise) and, in all, it probably saved me all of 5 minutes (!!). It was the quietest flight I have seen for a long time, with hardly any queue for the 11.15 flight at 9am - proof positive that it is the perfect time to look to visit. The temperature was also 81F yesterday - quite blissful (OK, put down those rocks now.............!).
