We booked our trip for October last July. When Virgin changed the weight of your luggage from 32kg to 23kg this April we rang Virgin and they confirmed that we would still be entitled to the 32KGs as we booked last year . Anyone who booked before the 1st April 2006 would still get 2 pieces of 32kg per person.

Just wanted to know if anyone who booked before the 1st april this year has travelled yet and did they have any problems ref luggage weights?

Thankyou

We phoned Virgin too, our August holiday was booked last year, you are right about the luggage allowance.
As you say Michelle it would be nice if someone could confirm.

Our October holiday was also booked last summer and we were given the same information by Virgin. Our outward flight is PE and I believe the 32kg still applies but for peace of mind we have had confirmation by email that 32kg will still apply for our return flight.

We flew out at the end of April and back at the beginning of May and had no problems either side!

We had no problems either but I think most of our bags were under the 23kgs - we took along 5 for the 3 of us :sunny:

I did ask one of the check in staff (we flew out in March and back in April) and they said that they had no idea whether the weight was being honoured - would have thought they'd have made some concrete decisions by now though :goodvibes

I would check with virgin and get confirmation about your luggage allowance. The only reason i am saying this is because my sis booked with virgin in march for a holiday in florida this november. When she received the flight tickets in April the allowance on them as for 23kgs. She phoned them and they said they would change it to 32kgs which she is entitled to. So it is worth checking out that you have the old luggage allowance!

hi

I emailed virgin and they said that because I booked early this year before the changes were enforced I am still allowed the full 32kg! :woohoo:

I am going to bring my email with me though just in case they kick up a fuss! Though it has to be said not a single one of my suitcases last year went over 24kg...so I wouldn't worry too much!

We booked before the allowance so should get 2 32Kg bags. I got our tickets on friday :woohoo: but I cant see any mention of the allowance on the ticket - under allowance it just has 2PC with no mention of weights (that I can see).

The Virgin Holidays booklet 'The Essentials' says the allowance is 2 32KG bags but as it's not on the ticket I'm not sure I would rely on that.

We'll be certainly be under 23Kg on the way out. On return I'll try and keep it under 23Kg just to avoid hassle.

Does anyone know if they've started weighing the bags at the Downtown Disney check-in?

we flew back at the beginning of june and they honoured our luggage allowance. The only thing that happened that was a bit starnge was that on our outbound flight they weighed our hand luggage!!!!! Both of us had standard size rucksacks, and they weren't bursting at the seams or and they didnt have any blood or guts dripping from them!!!!! Thankfully they didnt weigh them on the way home !

:confused3 :confused3

Thanks for the info. I booked my aug flight in Oct 2005 so i will check i get 32 KG!. What is the best way to get Virgin to confirm this( email etc)prior to the airport? thanks
Ruth

Thankyou everyone, I think i will e-mail Virgin again just to reasure myself :)

We won't go near 32kgs but we might go over 23kg so just want to make sure.

hi, we travelled on the 15th may this year and had also booked before the new weight came in, but because the ticket had been issued after the 1st april the girl at checkin was arguing with us, it was only when we pointed out that we where premium economy passenges and it didnt matter that she let our cases go, it would be well worth getting an e-mail of virgin as they said to us it was not when we booked but when the ticket was issued, hope this helps susie2
