Hope you're all okay and having a lovely day!

I'm going on the 7-Night Eastern Caribbean Cruise from Port Canaveral from May 5th 2018, (myself, my husband, our one year old, our three year old and my mum and dad).

I'm just looking at port adventures for Tortola and then the next day for St Thomas, (in fact I've been looking for a few days now!) and I really don't know what to do for the best due to our little ones.

We're don't really like sitting on the beach all day, I'd prefer to spend time sightseeing, taking in the views and just a little bit of beach time (if at all), is this sort of thing better booked with the cruise line (eg the land and sea tour TT03) or with one of the private vendors?

Or with having the young ones does anyone recommend any of the beaches?

Does anyone recommend anything for St Thomas?

If anyone has any advice (e.g.key items to take with you etc) or experience of port adventures (private or cruise line booked) they've been on,

I really would be so, so grateful,

Thanks ever so much in advance,

Amy xx

We will be on this cruise the last week of April with a 7 and 2 year old (plus my parents). For Tortola, we do not have anything booked. My husband will be doing the scuba diving excursion. The rest of us will probably just take it easy and get off the boat just because. We may try and find a place for lunch. As far as St. Thomas, we will be doing the Coral World tour. Hope that helps a bit.

Right now, Disney have said they'll "re-evaluate" Tortola starting April 1. Reports from others suggests that you won't be going to Tortola, though. With a 1 and a 3 year old, you're going to find city tours and beach days are your main options. You can't do the Baths with the littles, for instance. So you mostly will be looking at beaches there.

For St. Thomas, right now "the sights" are still in a bit of disarray. I'd suggest something like the Secret Sands Beach Getaway or Magen's Bay Beach.

Bring something waterproof for your ID. With littles, consider getting collapsible sand toys to bring along. There are a variety on Amazon, and they fold sorta flat for packing.

Many beaches have some amenities again, but I'd also bring pre-packaged snacks for the kids. You cannot take fruit or unwrapped food on board or off ship, so if they have any favorite things (like applesauce squeezes or fruit snacks) bring them with.

I don't know if you've taken your kids to the beach often.

I was not a "sit on the beach kind of person" before we had kids. In fact, I live an hour from the beach, and we NEVER went before kids.

Now that we do have kids, its our favorite thing to do in the summer. But we don't just "sit on the beach". We swim in the water, build sand castles, dig, bury daddy, bury brother, bury our feet, splash in teh water, swim some more...

I have some great pictures of my (then) 11 month old crawling around on the beach having the time of his life.

And like a pp said, Megan's bay is BEAUTIFUL. The sand is lovely, the water is calm. Its a perfect family beach.

We were just in St. Thomas with our 1 year old and 4 year old we used St. Thomas Scuba and Snorkel Adventures - https://www.stthomasadventures.com/. We did the multi beach adventure with Web, the owner, and it was awesome. We visited two different beaches and saw some of the island. The beaches were calm and great for kids and my husband and I traded off snorkeling with Web.
