Virgin Holidays Transfers

Am I right in now thinking that transfers from Orlando Airport to the hotels will not be by a chartered car or 4x4, but instead a coach?

It's nothing to be disappointed about if that is the case, but I really thought we would be driven right to our hotel's door in the luxary of a posh vehicle.

In regards to the posibility of the coach, I guess this may mean back and forth from all the other hotels before you perhaps arrive at yours.

I know the last time we went was 2001, but that's how we got transferred, via a coach. And yes, it did go from hotel to hotel. I suppose in their favour, there were several different coaches, each going to only a select number of hotels, but because we were one of the last drop-off points, it did seem to take forever.

Are you staying on or off site? When I have stayed onsite the Virgin transfer has been in a coach but its been a lovely Disney one, it stopped at one other hotel but that was it so it was very quick. Last year it took so long to get thru immigration that the coach had gone when we got out so were taken to our hotel in very nice town car!!

We were tranferred in a mini bus, seated around 12 people.

We waited over an hour to leave from MCO and by the time we had dropped off at three other hotels it was a full 2 and a half hours before we got to our hotel.

On the return journey from the hotel to the airport it was Disney Magical Express and it was great.

After a long flight we could have done without the delay to reaach our destination and although the return trip was good next time I will probably book my own taxi.

Our first visit we were tranferred by coach - it went to loads of other hotels - on and off site - and took forever.

Our last visit we were in a private mini van - which we also booked a couple of times to take us off site (really cheap!) and it took us straight to our hotel.

I guess Virgin use both methods - maybe depends on the time of year. (Although, saying that we always go in August! hehe)

Interesting reading, either we will get a good result or the travelling from the airport to our hotel will be a bit of a nightmare. Naturally, we'd like to get through immigration and quickly head to our final destination which is the Sheraton Safari in Lake Buena Vista.

We've had a bad experience in regards to being taken to various hotels in a past holiday - with our's being last. The organisation for that was basically pathetic - instead of doing the nearest hotel after a stop off it went to the other side of the city to another hotel. I can't see that happening in Florida, well, I hope not.
