Hi,
My husband, Mum and myself all have seperate flying club accounts. We have enough miles on each account to book miles plus money fare, but do we have to book each flight seperately, or is there a way of linking the accounts to pool the miles so that we can make the booking as a family?
Hope someone can help, could not find any answers on Virgin website.
Thanks,
Sara. :)

you cant pool the miles as such to make enough to say book 1 flight, you can buy a flight for someone else in the family but you cant bacnk all the miles together to get flights

I would phone virgin up and ask, because I'm sure that you could do this! So its worth giving them a ring to see either way>

We did it last year:confused3 The only problem we had was when I rang to upgrade to PE and the girl said you are not supposed to pool the points.I think they should link the miles to the name of the person. Why should it all come out of one account ?Plus they credit back to single accounts so why can't they take from seperate accounts on the same booking.:confused3

AFAIK you cannot technically pool points together to book flights. You can, as someone has said, use points to book a flight for someone else.

What I would do is call Virgin to book the flights when you are all in the same place, as they will need to speak to each person to verify that this is what they want to do. You can then get Virgin to link the bookings, which "should" improve your chances of getting seats together. Or, book them online and then call Virgin to link them.

I guess it boils down to whether we want to save money or guarantee sitting together, and coz we are travelling with child and infant, I think it's really important we are all together. May give Virgin a ring though and see about linking bookings. Thanks for the advice.

I doubt you will be split up, with having 2 children, but see what virgin have got to say about the miles

This is stated on the T&Cs of the VA Flying Club:

2.5 You can hold only one Flying Club account at any time. Miles cannot be transferred between Flying Club accounts

The only way to transfer miles to one account is if you are a Flying Club Gold member - in which case you can link together other family member's miles into your own account by starting a family account.

If you can't all be together to make the phone call to do the booking, two of you can authorise the third person to make bookings on their behalf.

DH has done this so that I can phone without him being there and book flights for both of us using both our accounts. We did this last year for flights for us and DD. They were all under seperate booking references but VA linked them together.
