Not quite right, its 336 days (or near enough to 11 months) from return date. If you look at http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/gb/en.html it will allow you to book any dates upto Tuesday 20th August 2013, 336 days or 48 weeks from today 18th Sept 2012.
BA work slightly different, they allow upto 355 days in advance, today that would be 8th Sept 2013

We booked our 14 months in advance but think it might be different as we have a package holiday......

Yes you can book packages a lot further in advance, same for flydrives. Problem is we can only go in school hols when packages are crazy prices. The last trip we went on(July/Aug) VH wanted over £12,000, I did it DIY for £4,500.

Wayne, you book in the July/Aug holiday period a lot, how quick do Virgin flights sell out?

I want to book our flights for next year, but I am just about to start a new job on 1st November, and not sure what the holiday situation will be like with my new employer, so am holding off booking just yet.

From your experience do you think flights will be available then OK?

Having said that, I notice that some hotels I had been pricing up no longer seem to be available, so I might just bite the bullet and book the holiday anyway (and tell my new company to lump it, '*** I've already booked the holiday :scared:!). For example, the first 6 nights we are intending to stay at a SeaWorld hotel, and I had my eye on the Doubletree Hilton which was coming in at £302 through Complete Orlando. It went up to mid £400's last week, and then yesterday it is missing completely. I also noticed that the Contemporary Resort was missing on the WDW website which was available last week.

You will have no problem in Nov, I have found best price Jan/Feb but you can't know when the best price will be, it could be now, could be next March. I won't be tied to VA though, just now our dates are £1,216.74pp, I would rather not go than pay that. For the sake of a 2 hour change each way I can save over £2,000 on 3 seats.

Room availabilty comes and goes, I looked at OKW today on Disney, only 1 bed or 2 bed villa, Complete Orlando for the same dates had a studio, tehy were also a lot cheaper than Disney, even taking into account Quidco and giftcard CO were about £250 cheaper.

Thanks for the info Wayne. I'm looking at flying out from Manchester 7-28 July, and Virgin are coming out quite good - £686 each (although they were about £20 cheaper last week, so that's why I was wondering whether seats were going).

I am finding Complete Orlando is coming out much cheaper than Disney for all rooms at the moment, even with the quidco discount. I will probably be booking with them.

Do you have any airmiles? If you can go 2 days earlier on the 5th and return 26th, 27th or 28th for 2,000 miles per person the price would be £566.

You will have no problem on those dates, its before schools break up.

No, never flown Virgin before, so don't have any miles.

I had enough BA miles for a couple of free flights from London, but I left it too late, and they sold out.

My son doesn't finish school until the 5th of July - the Scottish schools are later breaking up next year (they finished on the 30th June this year).

A bit late now, if you had got a VA credit card you could have got 3,000 miles just by spending a £1 on the card. 7,000 if you spend £1,000 in the first 90 days.
I earn over 20,000 miles a year between CC spend and doing surveys. Well worth collecting to get £120pp discount, last summer you could get £500pp discount in PE.

Maybe something to consider for future years if you don't go with VA this year and claim miles.
