Virgin flight changes

We fly from Gatwick on Dec 6th at 11.15 on the Airbus but, coming back we fly back at 19.30hrs on a 747. Hope they don't change the times.:thumbsup2

I am FUMING

Had two e-mails today from Virgin telling me of my flight change both going out and coming back.

Not only have they changed the departure time going out they've changed the bloody aircraft:scared::scared:

After such an awful journey home on a 747 last year we swore we'd never fly on one again, guess what they've put us on - yes you've guessed it!!!! I wouldn't mind every other day either side of our departure has just had the time altered and not the aircraft so really can't understand why they've done this:(

Any suggestions :confused3:confused3

Same here - 2 e-mails today changing times on outward and return. When I checked online I discovered it's now a 747 coming back, not an A330 as when I booked.

I'm disappointed about the later time leaving, or more to the point arriving, on our outward flight. I've always liked the early arrival into MCO. Quite interested in seeing a refurbished 747 though, assuming they've all been done by then.

What I'm more concerned about is still not being able to see the seat maps and choose seats. That's partly because the whole Virgin system is being rehauled (and, to my mind at least, taking a ridiculously long time in the process!). But partly because of the 747 refits, supposedly they don't know which aircraft will do which flights. However, if that's the case, then why have they changed my return flight from an A330 to a 747? When it suits them, they know which aircraft it will be; but when it might suit the passenger, they profess not to know.

For many years I've been able to see seat availability on other airlines before I book, and have sometimes changed my flight dates around that availability. Virgin have been behind the times by only letting you see availability after booking. But now I feel like I'm back in the Dark Ages, possibly not knowing my seats until I check-in, and then simply being told where I'm sitting and getting no choice in the matter.

Don't they realise that I'm OCD about these things! :scared:

how do you find out what plane is being used for each flight. We fly on Sept 28th leaving Gatwick on the VS15 and I'm blowed if I can see plane we'reon :confused3:confused3

This is getting weirder now, they are changing our later flight (which we wanted) to an earlier flight and changing your early flight to a later one, what are they playing at, seems like they are upsetting a lot of people's plans now! :furious:

Thanks for that Vanda but if you can do you mind telling me how you look it up so that if poss I can do it myself :flower3:

Oh I don't know about that its a secret:rotfl:

The way I do it is to do a dummy booking on VA when its found your day go into it and it will come up with the flight numbers available. You'll see that your flight VS15 is underlined, click on that and it will tell you the current aircraft allocated.

It's normally correct but with all the refurbs you never can tell if they might change it still....:)

I know exactly what you mean I'm also OCD about these things

It doesn't help that there are about 4 different seating configurations

Hi all

I have the same issue god knows whats going on with Virgin but i just wanted to say that you should def call them up and make sure you have been changed and they are not glitches ill tell you why..............................

Last wk or the wk before I was sent 3 emails saying that our flight home had changed from the 6.30 on the A330 from Gatwick to the later one at 8 something and onto the 747! I called them up as with my son i wanted to be on the same plan going out as coming home if possible so she the agent goes through my booking and says that we havent been changed we are still on the same plane at the same time!!!! So i tell her i have new Etickets saying im on this other flight she checks again and says NO you def are back on the original flight and that she will send new etickets out.

Anyways new tickets are sent the same day,....
On the wk end i go through the booking and tell Ian to print of the Etickets he then tells me that we have new Etickets and emails telling us the flight has changed :rotfl: soooo At this point im FUMING i call up again and say we have just had new Etickets sent can you double check and see if its correct well ITS NOT its wrong again :lmao:
she sends me out again new Etickets!!!

Ian waits till monday to print them at work he calls me and says "no joke" Cindy your on a different plane to us :furious: he tells me that they are all on the earlier flight or 7.05 (i think thats the time) and im on the 8.45 or something plane!!!!
So again i call up and tell the women that this is beyound a flaming joke now and that Im losing faith in them as they have put me on a different plane to my family she tells me to wait while she checks saying im sure its a mistake NOPE its correct im am on the other plane she tells me she has to speak to a manager as she cant just change me back lol so 20 mins later and she tells me that Im lucky as they have managed to get me back on the plane i should be on with the rest of my family and sends out another Eticket!

Its amazing the amount of Etickets we had sent out and yet they charge you a fortune for changing the simplist thing!!

So after all that I know hope everthing stays the way it is with us having the A330 both journeys!
So double check guys because if i didnt i would have missed our plane!

Oh my god this is really naughty guys. We go 19/09-04/10 i hvnt received anything yet but at least im prepared!!!! Will keep checking my manage booking page though. At the mo we are in later flight out and early flight cmg back. The flight out still gas loads of availability. Dnt know how many seats are left on the morning flight. Im not fussed over which plane really but i can understand peoples frustration.

I have become a lot more relaxed about what time we fly, which plane we are on etc in recent years, I think mainly due to the girls getting older and just the relief of not having to cope with a toddler on the plane is good enough for me ;)

However our preference is, out on the early flight VS075 (usually the A330) and back on the later flight VS074 (usually the 747)... TBH I am not overly bothered which type of aircraft we fly back on but would be VERY disappointed if we had to fly out on one of the old 747's...

I have been keeping an eye on my bookings and today our outbound flight VS075 for this August is showing aircraft type as a 747 :sad2: but is still showing our 'reserved' seats on the seat plan for the A330...... :confused3

We also have flights booked for Easter 2013 but I am not overly bothered what the details are for those flights as there is still plenty of time for change and also should we be on a 747 hopefully it will be a refurbished one...

I guess I will just keep an eye on my booking but at the end of the day, as my DH would say, it is what it is

Ali :goodvibes

Edit: I have just re-logged into my booking for Aug and VS075 is now showing the A330 as the plane again?!?!

Just checked mine and aircraft states A340-600 going out A330-300 return??? What is an A340-600? Hope its still a virgin plane!!! Seat plan shows 747 seating plan. Not stressing abt it till nearer the time!!! What a mess

oh lordy who knows then! A340-600 is still an airbus and if you look at seat guru website for VA it is a 2-4-2 seating plan! Interesting, very interesting:confused3

A340-600 is the plane type that most usually does the Heathrow-Miami route.

Are you sure you're going to Orlando and not Miami:) Bet you go and check.

I think we are still on the 747-400 both ways but who knows:confused3

Is the A330-300 a double decker craft? I can't believe the outward flight (VS0075) now takes 9hr 40mins and doesn't land until 4pm :sad1:

No, its the smaller one, is a pain it takes approx an hour longer, not sure why, maybe just not as fast or diff route? :confused3
