Hi all,

I got a letter from Virgin this morning to tell me that the refurb on the pool at ASMo has been extended. Really? I've been telling them that for weeks!! They wouldn't believe me though!

I have been offered to be changed to Music or Sports for no charge.

We'll decide tonight but I think we might stay put.

we are staying there and we fly out the 16th dec and haven't heard anything about it .. but will it not be too cold to go swimming anyway?

We took the swap to Music and we're glad we did. We took a walk over to Movies one night and the central area around the pool looked like one big building site. By contrast Music was peaceful and undisturbed and the food court and pools weren't busy. I'd swap if I was you.

Thanks for the info. We'll sit down tonight and look at it. If only they'd offer me a free upgrade to AKL....

we were booked into Movies for two nights in October and like Night-train were offered a transfer to Music, we hesitated over this as it was only for two nights. We are so pleased we finally made the decision to transfer to Music. We had stayed at Movies before and found Music to be much more relaxing, quieter and more compact. If we were looking to book into one of the All Star Resorts again, I would definately go with Music. I agree with Night-train - I would swap if was you ...

Hi

It was being renovated in May 04 when we went. They offered transportation to Music for swimming. Personally I dont see anything special about Movies pool. We stayed again at Movies last year and would not go back. Mainly because we shared the bus with all the three resorts and being the last resort the buses were full. It might be worth changing to music because of that or Pop sounds nice.

I don't mean to make your decision harder but I too would move to ASMusic without a doubt. We stayed at both in recent weeks - All Star Music for 4 nights (fabulous!) and AS Movies for just 2 nights - we knew the pool was closed but for those 2 nights there was no time for swimming so it was fine. But every time we passed the big blue hoarding around the pool I was relieved that we didn't spend our first 4 nights there. It's not just that the pool is closed, it's that all you see now when you come out of the food court, shop and back from the buses is the blue hoarding, it completely ruins the view of the resort and, in my opinion, it's all a bit grim. AS Music was amazing and the kids adored the guitar pool. Good luck!

We are staying at Movies in Jan and I did wonder about this but as it may be too cold for swimming I wasn't too bothered. To be honest I am hoping that a lot of people change and then we may just get a room near the food court as we when we were staying at Music last time we found it quite a trek to the main building to get a drink. ;)

Hmm, I've got customers going at Christmas for a couple of nights and also NYE. I got them changed to All Star Sports but they were determined to stay at Movies. I might try and get them to change to maybe Music or Pop Century if I can get them the preferred rooms.

We decided on POP so DBF range Virgin this morning to change the booking. Even better, they recalculated the cost of the booking so they are refunding us £108!!

Am now using this with a little extra saved for a 1 night stay at AKL (Savanna View) for our anniversary!! :)

when did the refurb begin and when is it due to finish i'm going to pop into thomas cook this morning about the pool see if we can change if its during over stay

I think it began in September and was originally due to finish about Dec 15th. It has now been extended until mid Feb (I'd have to check my letter for the exact date).

If your travel agent hasn't yet received the official notification from Disney then it won't be on their system...if you have any probs I could scan our letter in over the weekend and email it to you to show them.

Last night we used our refund to book one night at the AKL with a Savannah View Room. Very very excited now!!

i'll see how i get on and if i get know where i'll let you know about scanning your letter, how come you got a refund? lol

Virgin decided to recaluclate the cost of the holiday as a late deal. It's crazy, we kept the booking discount but everything else was recalulated. I'm not complaining but it seemed like a silly thing for Virgin to do.

i went to thomas cook this afternoon and mentioned the pool and they haven't heard anything about she said she'll look into it then phone us monday
