Virgin Disney Tickets

Not sure on this one so thought I would ask.

We have booked and hopefully will go for 16 nights October 17

We have a 14 day Disney Ticket all purchased through Virgin.

My question is can I decide when my Disney Ticket 14 days start or will it start when I check in at the hotel?

We have no offers on the tickets so my thoughts are I should be able to start them from the 18th as we won't be going to the parks on the day we land.

Anyone experienced this?
